Any activity at Galveston to show cruising restarting there?

Hello,  Wondering if any of the local area people have any insight about the restart of cruising out of Galveston?  Any activity from the cruise lines in the port?  Hiring locals for embarcation checkin, etc?

The first cruises aren't scheduled until August. I would assume that the company that mans the check in desks will just recall their existing employees. Its still a bit early to figure things out.

They are supposed to start Oct 1, but Texas got shut back down again, so October isn't looking to promising :(

And there is no agreement between cruise lines or the CLIA and the CDC and port authorities.  I can't see Florida reopening cruise ports now given how fast they rejected the return of ships when it all started.  Although cruises are slated to restart in October,  if that happens it will be few ships and limited ports.

The Port of Galveston and RCL signed an agreement for a new dock to handle the Oasis class ships but that has all been delayed for now by the virus resurgence in Texas.

Best guess is nothing till 2021.

Just read that RCL formally notified Galveston they wish to delay construction of the new terminal by one year.

I am debating if I should book Liberty of the seas for end of February, really good rate on a grand suite and other cabins. We normally fly but can drive.

We are booked should be a lot easier to get a hotel in Galveston the night before the cruise, will be looking at a few of our favorite hotels for Feb 27.

That is right about Mardi Gras time. If the Corona virus threat is over/mitigated you might have trouble booking a room.
