Did anything change? It says they open July 1. Perhaps July 1 date is for domestic travelers?

I’m confused by your question.

The newspaper article title about Baha Mar states that they are postponing their reopening until October 1st. I don’t think they would have any/many domestic visitors staying there.

Sorry for the confusion. I read on Bahamar's website that they were opening on July 1. And also read that domestic travel was opening up on July 1. So I thought it may be for locals of the Bahama islands. But that July 1 date is probably something that the Grand Hyatt has not bothered to update (yet).

An arbitrary date on when this or that cruise line is restarting, in my mind, is meaningless. Far more important to me is being told how will everything be managed in terms of new procedures - from embarkation to the restaurants to theatre shows to excursions...on and on. Until I know all of that, I'll stay home.

No surprise about Princess. They will probably be the last to start up given that they are the poster child for Covid at sea sailings.

Princess still haven’t processed cancellations in their system past the start of May. If they can’t even sort out their cancellations, I dread to think how they are going to organize starting back up🤔

We were told it will take 90 days for our March cruise to be refunded and receive FCC. Happened in a little under 90 days. So no complaints from us.

Yes, I agree that this is very likely.  Although, several Caribbean ports are anxiously awaiting cruise ships.  OTOH, I just read that some land resorts in the Bahamas are pushing back their scheduled July opening.

While many Caribbean ports are opening to tourism can you share a source that says they're "anxiously awaiting cruise ships"?

With everything that's being spewed here on CC from death toll, blame, pandemic, vaccine effectiveness, politics, CDC, WHO, when we'll sail, who will go first, where's my refund, lock downs, open ups, masks, social distancing, and on and on...of ALL that, you want to hone in on my very innocent interpretation of how those who are almost completely reliant on tourism to sustain their economies, from both cruise ships and land vacationers, to challenge whether or not they are in fact, "anxiously awaiting"?...Well you got me! 🤦‍♀️ I don't have a source.

Whew!  Now my fellow CC contributors can rest easy.  🙂

I am glad yours worked out okay. We cancelled our excursions, drinks and internet packages in March and despite being told we would receive within 60 days we are now being told it will be another 2-3 months. That they have switched how they are doing refunds as the way they started out isn’t working, and also told me they sent our cruise refund to our TA then days later said they had read the wrong screen when they told us that.

if people on RC had to wait 5-6 months for a refund I dread to think what these boards would be like

I have flight reservations for Jan. and had to go and select new seat assignments, and choose a new departure time because they went with a larger plane, allowing more empty seats, spacing between passengers. Every other seat.

They did the opposite for my flight in Nov.  Went from a wide-body 767 to a narrow-body 737.

Ms Bernie, who owns a little beverage cart on the beach in St Maarten told me the other day, SHE is anxiously awaiting cruise ships to return. She stated 90% of her income comes from the ship passengers. I'm thinking she isn't the only one.....so sad.

Gosh, I can only imagine that it is very tough right now, especially after not even being fully recovered from the hurricane that swept the island not so long ago.  I would imagine that her anecdotal account of how she's feeling is representative of more people than not.  Unfortunately, most publications, IMO, I should add, don't really get to the heart of the economic devastation from the point of view of the individual islander.  Most of what I have read with regard to the Caribbean opening up has been written from a big picture point of view.  Appreciate you chiming in!

I chimed in because I personally have quite a few friends, at the different ports, that I see each and every time we sail there. They're hurting and they need tourists. Remember, most cruiselines supported the hurricane relief effort back then by bringing water and supplies.....not happening this time due to lost revenue, so the islands are on their own.

Anyway, I'm ready to get back out to sea and spend some of this extra cash I've been making. Lot's of O.T. and no place to spend........well, Windcreek Casino did open. Ha!

And the fact they will have to be trained, not only in their jobs but in implementing new procedures for dealing with the Virus.

Which by the way, RCI has not said a word as to what they are going to do.

Airlines, Disney and others are announcing what measures are going to be taken....

RCI gives the impression they're in no hurry. People with reservations and those looking to book do not have a clue.
I have flight reservations for Jan. and had to go and select new seat assignments, and choose a new departure time because they went with a larger plane, allowing more empty seats, spacing between passengers. Every other seat.
We are also going to Disney in Orlando, and I have been getting e-mail news updates on the progress to open.

I have reservation with RCI....and being told nothing.  They act like there's plenty of time.

Yes but did they re-arrange the seat selections? They changed us to a wide body, 3 rows  3 seats each, or 9 across.

We could only select every other seat.  Which is fine, Wife and I have a row to ourselves with space in between.

I want to know what phase they have to be in before Diamonds International can open up and are the tiki bar owners sanitizing their countertops.

Was: 767 First Class seat config = 1-2-1 (lie flat seats); we had window on each side (X-00-X)

Now: 737 First Class seat config = 2-2 (recliner seats); they assigned us 2 together on the right side (00-XX)

0 = open (at this time)

X = our seats

I've mentioned this many times but ignored. Like is cozumel open. All ships out of Galveston stop here.

All they want is to argue about cdc.

I guess no one knows about ports so they rather talk about cdc. But yea I agree this is important . .which ports are open to cruising.

What is the word in Texas about Galveston opening?

Galveston had the best round table of whites and blacks and cops and everyone held in texas yesterday. Lol not my words. Dallas had one but left out black leaders like our female black chief of police.

I dont hear them talking about cruises. They do say the beaches are open, come on down. Galveston.com is trying to attract tourists. The port authority I haven't seen speak. I have the mom and son from ezcruise parking as "friends" I could message.

I honestly think everyone is waiting on cdc, Galveston doesnt have a say in this. I dont think it's fair cdc seems in charge. They seem to have it out for cruisers. Galveston is open.

NYC is phase 1 Long Island is in phase 2.  Cuomo is getting angry because people aren't wearing masks and he's threatening to bring us back to phase 1. Thank God I got my haircut last week.

Idk what phase we are in, but lots not wearing masks. Tx is hitting records for hospitalizations and cases. They said 40% of the states dont track hospitalizations so it doesnt mean that much.

We can get a hair cut here. Houston is liberal and threatening to go back to shelter in p,ace. Last time dallas tried to over rule the governor they were told it's the governor's call. I dont think they can go back if governor says no.

Still dont think cdc should have the say so. Here its liberals wanting closed and conservatives wanting it open, all politics... I cant wait until the cdc says something. All this waiting drives me crazy.

ff333....The seeming lack of personal responsibility and/or willingness to wear masks and social distance is in some ways even scarier than the virus. We have a fly / drive trip booked for October to visit some of the National Parks out west - particularly was looking forward to Big Bend and San Antonio (planned to end the trip there and fly back to PA). I'm doubtful that we'll be doing it though. I, too, hate how politicized the virus has become - just another manifestation of how divided the country has been over the past few years.

as well as MSC looking to August start, Costa are also getting ready. We don't have any of the CDC nonsense in Europe so it will be down to the various countries to allow ports to reopen, MSC are discussing plans with them.
