cruisin granny Posted February 9, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2006 I am leaving on the Sovereign next week with a couple days pre cruise. I have passports, sunscreen, chip clips for those nasty shower curtains, duct tape (wish I knew what for), clock, completed cruise documents, sweater, jacket (supposed to be cool at sailaway) and lots of clothes and items I won't need. I will look at the clock and report whether it is working. Will check out the dueling pianos even tho the special ones are on another ship. Thanks for all the hints. Anything else? parrotthead Posted February 9, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2006 I keep reading on these baords, that you need a power strip...( I don't know what for, but appearently outlets are at a premium in these cabins):p Have a wonderful trip!!!! PS: Did you mention where you are going??
BeckyR Posted February 9, 2006 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2006 A power strip is the first thing I put in my luggage! There is only one outlet in the room for charging everything, plus with my girls we need curling irons, lighted mirrors, etc. Becky
benjidog Posted February 9, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Duct tape can be a temp fix for things that break - like luggage. My friend used ours to remove lint from her black pants. We bought bright yellow. You can also put it on your suitcases to make them easier to find. Have a wonderful cruise.:) :) :)
cruisin granny Posted February 9, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Thanks. I always have an extension chord in my suitcase. Cruise ships have very few outlets.
Merion_Mom Posted February 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Ginny, do you have a wind-up or battery-operated alarm clock, preferably one that glows in the dark?
will7260 Posted February 9, 2006 #7 Share Posted February 9, 2006 I always take disinfectant wipes with me to use on the phone, remote, etc. Guess I am a bit of a germ-o-phobe! Pam Mariner of the Seas 2/26/
steve20832 Posted February 9, 2006 #8 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Don't forget lots of money so RCCL can take it all  You also need a pen and small battery operated clock ($5 at Target), there are none in the rooms.
ssolomon56 Posted February 9, 2006 #9 Share Posted February 9, 2006 1. A highlighter - for your daily Compass to keep track of what you want to do. 2. A pop up hamper for your dirty clothes. 3. A nightlight (If you're in an inside cabin) Have a great cruise! :)
Janice M Posted February 9, 2006 #10 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Coming from the cold area I forgot sandals. I did buy some in one of the ports tho. Jan
judybou Posted February 9, 2006 #11 Share Posted February 9, 2006 I can only add zip lock bags, different sizes, they come in handy for many different things....have a great Cruise!
over the edge Posted February 9, 2006 #12 Share Posted February 9, 2006 How about a shoe hanger (for shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, etc) or a large make-up bag that hangs on the hook of the bathroom door. Saved a lot of counter space for us!!! Enjoy!! :)
TheWog Posted February 9, 2006 #13 Share Posted February 9, 2006 preferably one that glows in the dark? That could be an official truth. Camera? Duct will work if your suitcase gets ripped or zipper breaks. Or band aid, etc. :) I slapped a bright orange piece of duct tape on the handle and bottom of our black luggage to help us identify it at the airport. cruisin granny Posted February 9, 2006 Author #14 Share Posted February 9, 2006 Thanks guys. I think I have it all, even loose fitting pants for the end so I don't have to lay on the bed to zip my pants. Carol, I have a battery operated clock with extra batteries. Used a wind up once and the "wind up" fell off the first day. Carol, you didn't need a clock on your cruise did you cause you never slept. I did find a neat thing at Target in the travel section. it is a flat package of different size zip loc bags. Also, my meds are in the original bottle-bummer- instead of the daily dosage. merrysunshine320 Posted February 10, 2006 #17 Share Posted February 10, 2006 Guys, I just stumbled across this thread, and these are such great tips! My cruise is in about 30 days. What a wonderful idea about the power strip! I had completely forgotten how few outlets there were on my first (and only) cruise last year. I really appreciate all the great advice! cruisin granny Posted February 10, 2006 Author #18 Share Posted February 10, 2006 I am about to add winter coat. Sailaway is going to be in the 40's at Port Canaveral if we can believe the weatherman....HA the cold forecast makes it so hard to pack for.
