Official Update on Mardi Gras and Radiance from Carnival

My update is I replaced Breeze with another Vista cruise the same week. Less exciting ports but it’s a ship I can drive to and an embarkation port I feel confident will be among the first carnival ports in use.

And Vista is ridiculously cheap right now. I booked the room next to the one I had last year except it’s $500 cheaper this time. I guess I’m just going to be collecting cheap Vista cruises (I have 3) and worst case scenario they turn into FCCs with $600 OBC.

There's something to be said about sailing out of Galveston after all.

I haven't received the Radiance->Breeze swap email from Carnival yet (yes, I checked junk and other possible folders).

Still haven't received the email from Carnival notifying me of the Radiance->Breeze swap.

We are booked for the Dec 5 cruise (Southern Carib).  Anyone else on that cruise get their notification yet?

Just worried that somehow the messages are getting blocked and not even making it to my spam folder.  As far as I know I usually get emails from Carnival...but I can't know about what I'm not getting...

I have received my e-mail. It stated that cabins would be assigned starting last Friday, and we would be notified of our cabin number. It also said that we all  have  $200 On board credit.

Thanks, to you and the others that have replied as such.

Weird, it still hasn't arrived for me.  But the booking is definitely gone under "Manage - My Booking".

I'd call, but really, what is the point?  It is the email on Friday (or thereabouts) that is really relevant - the cabin re-assignment.

Sometimes I get emails from Carnival and other times nothing. Hopefully it will populate on the website tomorrow. Good luck!

Yep, got the same email. Nothing surprises me any more. 😎

The most interesting thing in the whole fiasco was they are looking for another company to do the work.

Our January 2021 Breeze cruise was canceled and I am actually relieved.  I was stressed thinking that final payment was due in October and wondering if I should make the payment when the cruise could very well be canceled.  I only have our reduced deposit at risk so don't mind Carnival holding that for now.   I was also waiting for Southwest's schedule to open booking and would have reserved the flights asap.  So I don't have to think about that for now.   I am uncomfortable about cruising in January when there are so many unknowns about COVID.  Canceling a cruise is really no big deal - I can rebook any time and don't mind waiting a year or two.  In perspective, not cruising doesn't compare to canceling our 50th Anniversary celebration last month, two of my nieces canceled their weddings, and the list goes on.  Right now I am happy that we will soon be camping in the beautiful Adirondacks and that is very relaxing.  Cruising can wait!   And those passengers on the Radiance who will be on the Breeze - have fun!    We are waiting patiently for our turn.

I'd really like to know from a physical/technical standpoint . . .  how long can Carnival Victory sit idle in Spain with nothing happening whatsoever??  When in storage, a basic automobile should be cranked every once in a while, and there are FAR more pieces and parts on a cruise ship.

This is gonna continue to be a tough one for those gathering around a conference table (or Zoom screen) in South FL, and I fear the term Euthanasia might find its first use in CCL's history.

I would agree it could def be an issue.  On another site I saw some posts about what was needed in warm and cold storage, and also the effects of sitting, but I cant find it.  I was SHOCKED when I read they were looking for another shipyard to finish the ship.  Your last comment might be prophetic.

You and I are in the same boat, as it were.  Still nothing from Carnival in my inbox.  But based on the emails received by others announcing a delay in sending info about cabin re-assignments through 20 July, I guess they just got overwhelmed.

I heard they were concentrating on the Mardi Gras cancels first.

Have been looking at replacement cruises for our cancelled Breeze cruise.  As they are only offering 4/5 dayers out of FLL (easy for me to fly into, spend a day or 2 at our condo, 10 min. from port) I may jump on one in March there.  However, price is $300 more than I spent for my 6 day that was cancelled!  Plus, the cancelled cruise was a casino premier offer, with $1,000 casino cash and other perks.  This one out of FLL would give me $200 casino cash, and no drinks on us card.  I could also take a 7 day out of Miami on Magic - casino premier cruise.  Price is crazy high compared to my first cruise,  plus air is expensive.  Will wait a bit to decide what to do - at this covid rate, March cruises might be cancelled anyway!

I remember this well..."HURRY UP AND WAIT!".  I had just became less concerned over our Radiance cruise after being assigned a ship ( the Breeze) that was already in service and no longer speculating if the Radiance would would be completed on time.  Now I have a NEW concern because I have checked the deck plans on the Breeze and see NO GS cabin that is a fully assessable handicap cabin.   In fact the best cabin (only one) that is available on the Breeze is an OS  which is a smaller cabin than a GS.   We booked this cruise through Carnival's handicap department last year and offered the Radiance last September because it was the first and only cabin we needed that was available.  Now we wait to see what cabin Carnival assigns to us a week from Monday.  WOW!  Thank you 2020.  Some are speculating that the world will end this November because the Mayan calendar (ending 2012 remember?) was 8 years off.  Sure why not ?  LOL   Don

I was scheduled on the Breeze  out of FLL for 3/27/21 with my 2 sisters.   Both of them received emails earlier this week saying that we are being moved to the Magic and will sail out of Miami.   The emails said they would be notified on 7/10/20.     I'm the one who makes all the arrangements and if I hadn't seen it on Cruise Critic I wouldn't have known anything about the change.  These forums on Cruise Critic are my go to place for information.      So today is 7/10 and none of us heard anything back from Carnival.    I have been trying to go into the original booking all week and it would not recognize it until just a few minutes ago when it popped up with all the new info on it.    Same booking # - just shows us on Magic now leaving out of Miami.    We are booked in the same room as we were on the Breeze.     I'm happy with either ship as this is the first time we are trying a larger ship (compared to the 2000+ capacity).  So hopefully this will all be behind us and we will be able to travel at that time.    Everyone stay healthy!!

I much prefer sailing out of Port Everglades.  I fly SW nonstop and it's a quick Uber to the port.  But I've recently flown down the morning of (flight gets in around 9:15) and take one of the $25 shuttle services down to Miami and am there in plenty of time.  I detest flying to Orlando and then having that long shuttle ride to Pt C.  Too many screaming kids on flights in/out of Orlando!

Considering Legend out of Tampa instead.  7 nights instead of 8 and Western itineraries don't do much for me these days.  Or a B2B on Sensation.  I happen to like the Fantasy class and haven't been on that one.

Or apply the FCC to Legend Med Oct 2021 or Spirit Oz Feb 2022 and sail a different line in next January (either HAL (have an FCC/OBC to use from them!) or MSC).

What would make the most sense would be to just NOT replace the Breeze sailing and have save my money for the Escape TA in April 2021.

Of course, who knows about the X Infinity sailing in March.  I might end up with FCCs on 4 different lines within the next few months.  Here I thought I was safe booking in 2021. 😄

How far are you from Charlotte airport? If it reasonable, try AA to Melborne Fl

As I said before, I still have not received any notifications nor emails about our November Radiance cruise.  I figure the first thing that Carnival has to do is transfer everyone from the Breeze to the Magic.  Once the Breeze is empty of cruisers, Carnival can then start putting the Radiance bookings on the Breeze.  The Mardi Gras would be worked last as there sure isn't any reason to hurry to work those cancelations because the Mardi Gras is still a work in process.  Just my thoughts.  Don

I get that shipyards are delayed.  But what is the point of moving the Breeze to Canaveral?   It seem that this just irritates two groups-those booked on the Breeze that got cancelled and those booked on the Radiance that got replaced.

You are quite correct about the irritation.  We were booked on BOTH the Dec 5th Radiance cruise and the Dec 19th cruise on the Breeze.  Now while, so far anyway, the Dec 5th cruise is still on as for now per Carnival.  What I can tell you is most of the people on that Dec 19th Christmas cruise are livid over the fact that Carnival basically gave all of the the boot and put all of the Radiance scheduled cruises in their place.  My Rep said that since the Radiance was not going to be ready until next spring, Carnival had to move one of the other ships up to Port Canaveral to take its place.  Why they chose the Breeze I don't know. But I do know that they have a whole lot of very pissed off customers.  Carnival is giving an additional 600 OBC if the Breeze cruisers who were cancelled rebook, or we can take a full refund.  I chose to rebook in the Spring on the new Mardi Gras.  I am not holding my breath that the Breeze will sail this Dec either.  If not, I will probably just get a refund for that cruise unless the give something really spectacular to make me rebook!
