All they need to do is contact Carnival Corp or Royal Caribbean. They'd have to agree to pay deep cleaning costs after the ship finished its stint as a quarantine hotel. There are plenty of ships hanging around Manila Bay but it would take a couple of weeks for them to get down to NZ.

Australia is also having trouble being able to quarantine all the passengers returning to Australia.  WA has requested Commonwealth Government to limit international flights to Perth only every three days.  Maybe NZ could do the same by restricting arriving numbers.

There already is a limit and that is being increased. There’s a delay of 3/4 weeks to get a ticket to NZ.

The cruise lines did offer that in Australia back in March/April. Got a not interested response from the government.

I doubt Australia will use any, they are like floating apartment blocks.

If they wanted home should they have not come sooner    it's been 4 months.....

Not too sure if I would like to be quarantined in a cruise ship cabin for 14 days, compared to a hotel room. Hotel rooms would be bigger, and have a bigger bathroom, but cruise ship cabins may have a balcony....that would be the trade off I think. 

 

And if it was possible for the cruise ship to cruise to nowhere for 14 days would be inviting as well. Not to mention this would eliminate the possibility of absconders from the complex!
