The X on the Balconies of Solstice

Does the Solstice still have the giant X across the hump balconies? I'm reading conflicting answers. We have a cabin on Deck 7 booked on the Hump, and I'd hate to look out at a painted white pane of balcony glass.

Yes, it seems to. Solstice is next to last to be revolutionized in years to come. So, you might want to change your stateroom if the paint bothers you.

Just curious if you know this for sure, or if you're just speculating from some of the pictures?

We were in a RS in 2016 on Solstice and part of our balcony had some of the blue X on it, I don’t think it will have had the X removed since then...

Just out of curiosity I looked at some pictures as you said ‘white’ and I distinctly remember ‘blue’...Seems like port and starboard are different colours, cruised her twice and never noticed that!

Do you know for definite your room is part of the X? Try looking at recent reviews of your room number.

Mostly speculation since I honestly don't recall from 2017 when we last were aboard Solstice. I've searched for recent photos and am not finding much that really shows the sides clearly, but all I see has the X shadow painted on each side. If you use Face Book at all I belong to a group page there called Celebrity Solstice Fan Club, if you care to join. Some of the folks there probably can definitely answer your question. We are booked on Solstice to Alaska on 30 July 21. If I find something more recent I will post it for you.

Thanks K12. We currently have a cabin booked on the hump on 7 that "appears" to not have any part of the X on the balcony, but if I knew it was removed from all balconies, I might consider a cabin more in the middle of the hump.

Here is a photo from 2015 and it's not likely the ship has been repainted since then as it was on the list to be revolutionized. It appears the following staterooms on 7 might not have the paint or frosting on the balcony glass:

Port side: 7221, 7223, 7229, 7237, or 7239

Starboard side: 7266, 7268, 7274, 7282, or 7284

We were on Solstice first in Jan 2018 and then Dec 2019/Jan 2020.  The white X was there in Jan 2018 and was gone by the time we took our next cruise.  Here are two photos of Solstice that I took.  If you look carefully, you will see a few cabins that still have a portion of their balcony with the old X paint still there (highest deck of balconies).  This is evident in the second (starboard) photo.

We first cruised on the Solstice in 2010 and there were lots of posts on Cruise Critic about the etching on the balcony glass. We had a cabin on the hump on deck 7 and changed to one without the X. When we cruised in 2011, we had a balcony cabin that had a part of the glass etched with the X. I thought that it was noticeable and after that, we chose cabins that did not have any of the X etched on it. In fact, I thought that the glass had been replaced. Guess not. Haven't been on Solstice in a number of years.

Greatly appreciated the "current" pictures mahdnc...While the other comments were appreciated as well, timely was more valuable to me. What it was like in 2015, or 2017, or 2011, is interesting, but your accurate pictures helped me decide what to do. Thank you!

Yes. Those were the photos I was hoping might pop up. I saw so many undated photos there was no way to tell what was most recent. It would be nice if Celebrity would post an actual recent photo on the home page for each ship. They probably have better things to do, however. As of now I would think any of the hump suites would be good!

We will be on Solstice on 30 July 21 sailing out of Seattle. Maybe we will run into you then!

You are welcome.  It was a pleasant surprise that Celebrity removed it.

Glad it appears they have removed the "X".

We sailed the Solstice back in 2010 and I did a lot of documenting of the infamous "X". We had a balcony with a partial X view.

Here is a list of all the hump cabins and whether they had no "X", a full"X" or a partial "X" ::

Cabins with full “X” : 6220, 6230, 6221, 6231, 7272, 7278, 7227, 7233, 8240, 8242, 8267, 8269, 9280, 9282, 9225, 9227

Cabins with partial “X” : 6218, 6222, 6228, 6232, 6219, 6223, 6229, 6233, 7270, 7274, 7276, 7280, , 7225, 7229, 7231, 7235, 8238, 82448265, 8271, 9278, 9284, 9223, 9229

Cabins with No “X” : 6216, 6224, 6226, 6234, 6217, 6225, 6227, 6235, 7266, 7268, 7282, 7284, 7221, 7223, 7237, 7239, 8232, 8234, 8236, 8246, 8248, 8250, 8259, 8261, 8263, 8273, 8275, 8277, 9272, 9274, 9276, 9286, 9288, 9290, 9217, 9219, 9221, 9231, 9233, 9235

Here is a picture of the side of the ship and the "X", as well as some of our balcony where you can see the "X".
