Sneaky L&S - Can you do this?

On some of mine they have recognized cabins that were linked and assigned them accordingly on others they haven't.  In your case i would probably call to get the CB category assigned.  It would probable be harder to redo after the fact if they just assigned a pair of side by side cabins.

Thanks for the advice.  Ok...so when I have a few hours next weekend, I'll give them a call to move the booking to following year.

Even the Royal agent today had a hard time finding the connecting rooms I was seeing.  Not sure why.

Here is a "can you believe this????" example.

Whatever you want to Lift & Shift, go for it.

Someone just told me that RC let them L&S a four night Enchantment cruise to a 14 night transatlantic. 😮

Not sure I buy that one

Why would she lie?  She is on my TA roll call.

Ok, she just clarified that she has no idea what Lift & Shift actually is.  LOL  Never mind.  😄😄😄

There is a link on their website which allows you to do it yourself by entering your booking number.  You don't need to cancel the first one before booking and shifting the new one.

there is nothing wrong with what you are doing.  I have booked several bargain 2020 /21 cruises and shifted them to end of 2021/2022  Here;s the link to shift

Does this link still work?  I keep getting "400 Bad Request".

Sorry...seems to work in explorer.  Not other browsers for me.

RC seems to have a major problem with browsers.  I have that issue all.the.time.

Works for me.  You can find that link on their website under CWC  Or try a different browser

My MAC cant figure out how to open it in Safari. In any case I find it to be a very silly idea anyway. I would rather try going on some of those virtual cruises than that. Last time I was trying this website out my computer just broke on me

Has the lift and shift TCs changed.  I did an online lift and shift 2 weeks ago for a November 20 cruise which has been moved to Nov 21 however the price has not been protected.  The TCs which appeared over the weekend now show L & S  for cancelled cruises only or am I reading this wrong.

"Only available for sailings cancelled as part of our global suspension on May 20th, 2020 or after."

Extract from RCCL page.

If you prefer to move your existing booking to a 2021 sailing – we’re happy to move you! We will price protect the original pricing and/or promotion on the same itinerary, length, product, and stateroom category as your original sailing within 4 weeks (before or after) of the original sail date in 2021. For example, if you are moving from a July 30th, 2020 sailing, you can move to a sailing that is the same itinerary, length, product, and stateroom category, and the sail date between June 30th, 2021 – August 30th, 2021.

• If your sailing was cancelled on:

- June 30th, 2020, please contact your Travel Advisor or call us by July 17th to move to a new sailing.

- July 10th, 2020, please contact your Travel Advisor or call us by July 29th to move to a new sailing.

- July 17th, 2020, please contact your Travel Advisor or call us by August 5th to move to a new sailing.

• If we don’t hear from you, we will automatically issue your Future Cruise Credit.

• Only available for sailings cancelled as part of our global suspension on May 20th, 2020 or after.

• Complimentary Casino offers are not eligible for Lift and Shift.

@Ourusualbeach

Asking can I l&s a cruise booked as a solo to another itinerary; and then add on a second person?
I wonder if adding the 2nd person would cause the booking to be repriced to the current rate for that itinerary instead of price protecting me on the original cruise rate?
thanks x

The terms have not changed.

What you posted is for cancelled sailings.  I& you look under the CWC you will see the terms for the Lift and Shift that apply for all not cancelled bookings that can be done before Aug 1.

You can add a second guest and only pay the taxes and fees.

RCI is trying to reign in some of the biggest price disparities but until then enjoy it - BTW, lots of other people do exactly this without ever booking a backup cruise.

Less than 2 weeks until it expires. Do you think it will be extended?

Thanks for posting the link (which is really easy to use), but we encountered a slight wrinkle in its execution. We had a January 31, 2021 cruise that we wanted to move to February 2022, but weren't sure that we could do a lift & shift (their website seems to say that L&S is only for moving 2020 cruises  to corresponding 2021 cruises) until we went out to the link and tried it. The only problem with their online L&S site was that it only gave us cruise choices through February 20, 2022 and the cruise we wanted was for February 27 (28 days + one year from our original cruise). Based on all the replies on this thread, I decided to call the D+ desk, and they were able to L&S us to the February 27 cruise in about 10 minutes.

Yes, always book through US travel agencies because they will give you 5 to 10% of the cruise fare as OBC or discount

Are there any that give you more than 10% PBC?

Unlikely with RCI as the max commission is up to about 16% - the TA needs to make some money.

If you use the l&s website and enter just one alternative option... what happens next... do they automatically move you or do they come back saying “that’s ok - do you want to go ahead”?

They will automatically move you if that sailing has availability- they assign you a stateroom in your category which you can call and change once the shifting is done
