Have you ALL gotten the flu shot each year?

Yup.  Sure do. Have not missed one for as long as they have been available.

And I am so thrilled that our governor has moved educators to the top of the next wave of vaccinations.  I will be able to stick out my arm for my turn next month.  Can't wait. Unfortunately my husband and the children will be in the last wave next summer 😞

We won't cruise again till we are all vaccinated and there is significant vaccine herd immunity. If that doesn't happen then there are plenty of other things to do on vacation.  I enjoy camping and hiking in the deep woods just as enjoyable as a cruise.

Every year since 1997.  Prior to that, never and I had the flu two years in a row when my boys were in elementary school.

It really must suck living out on the asymptote.  In fear.  Castigating others.  Time to loosen up and live life between the 95% goalposts.

And this attitude is exactly why we can't move past the virus. We'll have 400,000 total dead in another month; more than 20 million cases. What sucks is people who refuse to understand that life will not get back to normal until we get the virus under control. "Loosen up" is the worst possible thing we can do, as a society.

Does not matter to me as I usually take the stairs on principle on cruises.

You beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing. Even if we're on deck 9 or 10, we make it a point to 'leg it'. Hasn't gotten any easier over the years but we still do our best.

It doesn't matter that the policy would not affect you. It should concern you that such a policy would be necessary.

Once again, this whole situation became a political football over the past year and not sure how to change that.

It's a virus. It doesn't care about politics. To defeat the virus we have to do the things that work. Deciding to simply ignore it and "live your life" is why this country has so many cases and so many deaths.

So, unless you are wearing a N95 mask and goggles, you are not doing enough....  the key is to stay away from other people.

Do you people really want to live like that forever?

At some point we are going to have to accept that bad things happen to nice people and it is not only ok, it is normal.  Instead we beat each other up over you deny science and you suck, or I don’t care it is a conspiracy...  it doesn’t matter. The disease is eventually going to hit us all... hopefully when it hits you ... your immune system or the vaccine will save you.

We are decimating our economies and making super bazillionaires out of our future overlords, Jeff Bezos, and others.  We can not print money forever and expect no future dire consequences.  There are worse things than a virus that kills less than 1/2% of the people it infects.

I am a mask wearer even though the virus is smaller than the tightest thread we can weave.  I avoid people.  I don’t travel.  I have given up a hell of a lot to do my tiny part, but folks it is not going to save us.  We have to live at some point.  Kids have to go to school or the consequences of that will make Covid look like a spring picnic.

Sigh...  what a bunch of utopian believers we have become.  There is no Utopia, there is no free lunch.

The good news is that with a vaccine, you don't have to get COVID, and I'm more than willing to "live like this" until I get the vaccine. Ask you parents or grandparents what it was like to live through polio epidemics. Or wartime rationing... This is easy.

Glad to hear your hospital has plenty of PPE. Do you know why some hospitals don’t have enough or do they now and not everyone is up to date with the correct info.

That's a good question. Seems our hospital stocked up in between the peaks, as we have many pallets sitting outside receiving department ready for distribution. I look at LinkedIn daily, and there are a lot of companies selling PPE that looks like they're well stocked. I'm sure (and I hope not), as cases rise, shortages are about to happen again......happy I got shot one of the vaccine and only three weeks from shot two.

Very touching, J.C.

I always thought she was hotter than Ginger.  I am saddened by every death.  But in reality poop happens. Has always happened and will continue to.  I am a romantic I cry every time Captain Kirk gets stuck in the Tholian Web, and anytime something nice happens in a movie or sad, but my active functioning brain still accepts reality and I don’t spend my time wishing reality was something other than what it is.

Your so-called active, functioning brain seems to have some difficulty separating the death of a real person from the trials and tribulations of a Star Fleet officer.  Recognizing the reality and inevitability of death, doesn’t mean that an off-hand and crass expression regarding your opinion on that person’s demise is at all appropriate.

Perhaps a little empathy training (see Deanna Troi on one of your Star Trek cruises) would be time well spent.

Congratulations on shifting the discussion  "...life getting back to normal.." is a human construct and is a matter of perspective.  My point was directed towards all of the Chicken Little's in the world who use emotion to guide their actions and behaviors and not logic, science, or math, and live their lives based on "what ifs" - actually, I only care when they try to push that view and modus of control on everybody else.  Demanding people wear masks after getting sick or after getting vaccinated is an example and is a stupid concept.  There is never going to be a vaccine without somebody getting ill from it.  There will never be a virus where everybody survives.

Public policy shouldn't be guided by what "could" happen but it is anyway.  Same concept as managing to the lowest common denominator, evidenced by our public school system.  Nobody gets left behind, but lots are held back.  And that is a socialist mindset, and I'm going to call it out.

Live life between the goalposts and everything will work out.😘

Amen.  This is a highly contagious virus and if it's not "ALL" its nothing.  5% of us are upset because 95% of us realize that and still strap on our seatbelts knowing 50,000 die each year in vehicle accidents anyway.  Yet we still have people telling us to wear our seatbelts while parked at the drive in theater.
