I value the information I have gotten on CC. My wife and I started late to cruising since our first cruise to Italy and the Greek Islands on our honeymoon. Having a son a few years later we focused on him. Now that he is in college we have started cruising again. Thanks to CC our last two cruises were a huge success because I got valued information on everything relating to Royal, ships, planning, travel and where to stay, excursions and everything else. We may be on the lowest rung of the ladder at "Gold" but I feel you got to start somewhere. I admire people like @John&LaLa, @twangster, @Milwaukee Eight and others who know their stuff and are not shy about giving people their opinion. I can assure you I will never act as a know it all the more cruises I get under my belt. It's fun to learn new things and I have been enjoying this ride even if I'll never make to Diamond or Pinnacle.

I found member search, but beyond that, nothing saying "reputation".  I'm lost and I'm usually pretty good at searching.

ETA, I figured it out. How does the first person listed have that high a reputation with less than 5,000 posts?  Weird.  Wonder how they are "awarded" lol.  I saw a few familiar names on the first two pages.

Probably the number of likes as a % Of their post count then ranked by %.

I think different cruise group. Royal seems to be very active. Plus we do a lot of good “debating” here. Lol. A lot of the other cruise lines don’t have the programs Royal does. The threads would be really boring without some good natured discussion. 😇

I never start my post with the words - I'm diamond and than ask a question, or I'm in a suite, does the buffet serve chicken.  I just think often times the snarkiness comes because people feel the need to say they are diamond, when the question does not matter if they are or not.  Then the question seems to be like a question, if they are a diamond, should they not know the answer?  It's really how you ask a question and whether you status, or room type is related to the question.

I don't see it to much on this board but on Princess and Celebrity the members who lead off with I'm Elite usually use that opening line to complain. Usually it's about things like no more freshly squeezed orange juice or the free laundry is taking 3 days to come back. Then they lament about how loyal they have been as if the cruise line cares. They are so dissatisfied with the product but yet they have multiple future cruises booked in their signature.

As for this topic. I see more negativity towards Pinnacles from the lower ranks than the reverse. We are gold on Royal. We don't book suites and up until Covid we were more than happy in an ocean view room.  Now I won't book lower than the cheapest balcony. The only way I'm making it to Diamond and above is if I marry into it.

That’s how I got to Diamond but now am Diamond on my own points. As a couple, we need two 7 night cruises to begin complaining about D+ takeaways.  😇

I am relatively new to CC and have only been cruising for a couple of years.  What I find disturbing on this site is that many times when someone asks a question or posts a comment regarding their higher level loyalty status or stateroom/suite others feel it necessary to post disparaging remarks.  If a cruiser has spent, or is spending, their hard earned money to enjoy their time at sea in whatever capacity they choose, and are not hurting anyone else, then why be snarky to that person?  It seems to me that many times the biggest "snobs and elitists" are not those in D/D+/Pinnacle categories and/or Star Class Suites, but those who are not.  As we have learned from an early age, if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.

Did I miss a recent thread

My husband and I were mistreated in the CL lounge by a group of D+ and Pinnacles. We purchased a suite and were told by a couple members of this group that we should go to the DL. We gave no indication of our level. It is interactions like this that place bias on levels and stateroom categories.

Sorry to hear. Most people don’t act like this. A few make it bad for others.

That is disgraceful.

A quick chat with the concierge who in turn could have spoken to the culprits should have nipped this in the bud.

If you have been mistreated by other guests, you should have reported that immediately to the concierge for clarification and correction and not wait until a later opportunity in CC. The way you (non-)acted can ruin your vacation quickly and will not help fellow cruisers when they come into the same situation originated by these "groups".

Be careful when you elaborate again about taken seats in SL at the window.

This board is positively docile compared to the college football board to which I subscribe.  Flame retardant clothing is required to login to that board.  And the most interesting thing about that board is nearly all of us attended the same university!  Make a comment critical of the play calling and see what happens.

If somebody doesn't agree with me about tipping on a cruise ship I just ignore it, but attack my judgement about offensive line performance and you better prepare for a fight.

That generally only occurs on cruises with high Pinnacle count. Nothing to be careful about. It happens. The Pinnacle parade or creep from SL to CK happens too. (Parade not my term). 😇

Or do a lot of transatlantics like we did!  We are always in interiors and it took us not long. Still waiting to enjoy those benefits as a brand new Diamond!

I use these boards for info and news. Sometimes to laugh at posts.  I found that the ones who get into the tier nonsense are usually voicing a complaint and will throw in the fact that they are Diamond or whatever.  I have seen, not often, suite guests complain about their butlers or some silliness.

edited:  As an aside, I used my new status to move up in celebrity (5 cruises there and already Elite) and this past January, I took advantage of every perk thanks to information from CC. We drank from 5pm to 659pm every night for free, did 2 bags of laundry using 1st my name, then my husbands, and sat in the elite lounge until they kicked us out at the end of the cruise.  Everyone we encountered at the free breakfast was nice and helpful.  We never made it to the Elite lounge for happy hour as we just didn't feel like leaving the pool area.  But I would never have known anything unless I read cruise critic.

Its just a message board. I dont take any offense to people posting things. I have no idea who anyone is anyway.

Go back a read some of the refund pages. Many start off with I’m Diamond or D+, like they feel because of their status, they should get faster refunds. 😇

Pinnacle Parade - The unified movement of Pins from SL to CK at 5:30pm

Pinnacle Creep - The undetected movement of Pins boarding in PC. The goal is to get in front of the B2B passengers. Often accomplished by visiting with friends.

This has been one of the better threads in the last few months.  With all the cancelled cruises and people not getting refunds immediately.  We all have good times and not so good times on a cruise.  I have tried to mention good times more than bad.  Our last cruise was Liberty and that was not so good, had thought about posting about it but decided to let it go.  We are one of the families that like the suites because we have to fly across the country to get to any port. Would love to be able to fly first class all the time because I have knee problems, and there is a difference, but those seats can be pretty pricey.  We have met some wonderful friendly Pins and then have met some who were very upset with my granddaughter for being in the SL.  People are people.  Some of the worst people we have encountered were the ones who would resort to foul language because our genie would get us into or unto whatever activity first.  There are always nice people and then the not so nice.  CC was a wealth of information when we got back to cruising 4 years ago.  It was fun to see what people were saying about the ship we were going on, where to stay, what to do and all the other information.  Hopefully we will soon be back to that information because the cruise ships will again be going somewhere.  Everyone stay safe.

But, how would they know what your status was or wasn't?  Did you tell them you were in a suite?  We cruised in GS several times before we were D+ and the only time anyone questioned us being in the CL was when we mentioned we were D and the couple we were with couldn't figure out how we were in the CL until we told them we were in a suite.  Never had anyone question why we were in a lounge, except the concierge the first night when they usually check cabin numbers/ cards.

We were targeted by someone on our last cruise. We were in a suite and every time we walked in the lounge he asked to see our cards. When we were being escorted off the ship the last day he asked to see them again to make sure we were in the right place. He was lucky I was able to ignore him. Once we were off the ship and our Uber arrived he and his wife jumped right in. I quickly pointed out the problem to the Uber driver and they had to get out. He very nicely asked me if they could share the Uber and drop them at the airport. His whole attitude changed once he was off the ship. My answer was a firm no. Maybe if we were going in that direction and our car wasn't full I could have been guilted into it but it was sweet revenge.
