Harmony OTS - will she sail in early January

Recommended Posts

Short question... We are slated to sail on JANUARY 3RD 2021 on Harmony OTS.  What do you think the odds oar that it will actually set sail?

Lord, Do I miss cruising.!!!

And if it lands on the edge, the answer is yes.

That's the million dollar question right there. We also have a cruise booked for Jan 2021 and will be making the final payment just in case......besides, if no cruise we want a refund, not an FCC.

Not likely.   We shifted January/February 2021 sailings to 2022.

Who knows. If she does sail, I would bet she doesn’t at full capacity. Hope you have a balcony cabin.

Good luck with that.  They'll be thrilled to take your cash.  Plan on getting it back a few months after the scheduled cruise.

That’s why I cancelled and took my FCC on the suite NRD. I’m not giving up the money to wait months to get it back.

Short answer - IMO, odds of it sailing - about 5%

If you have a refundable deposit, I would cancel, if not then do a L&S to 2022.

We have Harmony booked in March 2021 and not feeling too confident.  But no one really knows.

Even with a vaccine, I don't see any cruises other than possibly a few test runs starting back up again until very late spring/early summer 2021.

Sadly, I agree.

OP -  there is no one on these boards who can possibly give you an answer.

We are booked in January. Because  is my Casino 2019 prime cruise (as the original cruise was a cancelled cruise in March 2020), it is NOT eligible for lift and shift. I can’t move it to later in the year as it must be taken no later than March 2021. There are only a few weeks after the scheduled cruise and most if not all are “not available“ for a casino offer.

Would love nothing more than to move it to 2022 but that is not an option. When the cruise is ultimately canceled, I will lose my 2019 casino free cruise benefit.    I understand that this will be the likely scenario and really don’t mind. There are far more important things for me to worry about right now than if I get to take a free cruise.

Unfortunately, I don’t see a bright future for Cruising.

Stay well

We have the RLS booked on Symphony for March.  There is no way I will be making final payment, if cruises have not started before my final due date.

I give that cruise a 10% chance of going, at today‘s rate of effectively battling Covid.

Yeah I'm ok with that, the money is already spoken for and won't affect our day to day at all. The reason I don't want an FCC Is that not only have Royal jacked the prices until 2022 (so far) but also we're not so sure we want to cruise for the next few years depending on what "safety precautions" are in place. While I wear a mask in stores right now I do not want to wear one on a cruise nor do I think social distancing is a viable option.

Yeah...and final payment is Dec so doubt cruises will be back up this year. Too bad you'll lose such a good booking.

My opinion is no. I fully expect our HotS cruise over Thanksgiving to be canceled. My personal opinion of the CDC survey is that they are making it clear that the cruise lines will be financially responsible for all passengers quarantine if anyone contracts it on a cruise. I think the pressure is because they pay little to no taxes in the US and expect to dump the burden over. Until the cruise lines have a financial plan for that, US ports will be closed.

I don’t disagree with the likely cancellation but there is some life that exists outside of the US.

We have one booked for the end of February and as much as I want to cruise, I'm trying to be realistic. I don't think it will happen.

I have a feeling there will be cruises in February (maybe even January) but the question is at what capacity and with what precautions?? Personally, I'd LOVE to sail on a half full ship but not if there will be crazy precautions in place. And to that end if cruises are only sailing at say 50% capacity how do they decide who gets to go and who doesn't?  We have 2 JS's booked that now cost almost triple what we paid.....I suspect Royal would love for us to cancel (won't happen) so they can have the higher fares sailing.

I agree. However, it is not cost effective for my family. I do envy your abilities overseas to have more options at the moment.

We just cancelled our b2b on Harmony for 1-15 Nov and there are still people on the roll call hoping to go.  I highly doubt it,  I expect more cancellations soon.  As for Early Jan, I just wouldn't bet on it.  We're booked in May on Freedom and are hoping that one happens.
