Ships in Weymouth

Hello all, need some advice, please

Work has at last slowed down a little meaning I have  some free time mid-week., and we thought we'd take a day trip to Weymouth to see Azura, Britannia and Ventura.

We're not too keen on going into the actual town, and wondered if anyone knew a vantage point where we would be able to park/walk and gaze longingly across the water at the ships.

Also, any recommendations for a nice place for lunch... pub or picnic

Thanks

I was down there the other day thru work, as you come in from Dorchester on the A354 you will come to a roundabout on the Weymouth relief road where you are up quite high and the ships come into view very nicely.

You can turn off left there and there are places to park.imageproxy.php?img=&key=6ee4bfcebcfde1cb

Bowleaze Cove is the place you are after. Away from Weymouth and closer to the ships.

Thank you both, just hope the P&O don't decide to move the ships before Thursday!

Check out the marinetraffic dot com website before you leave. Zoom in to Weymouth Bay and you will see what’s there. Cruise ships are blue arrows and if you tap on each of them it tells you what ship it is. They seem to be split between Weymouth Bay and Bournemouth but they move around!

Yes, we popped over there about 10 days ago during our getaway break. If you head for Bowleaze Coveway then you can't go wrong - it's a big hill with a great overlook of the bay from Furzy Cliff.  Cars can park for free all down one side (it was packed though with dog walkers, family groups and kite flyers).
