Juliah67 Posted April 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2004 Ok, I am going to book Godfrey to take us around St. Thomas (thank you to all who recommended him). He wants to know what time we want to be picked up from the ship. We arrive in St. Thomas at 10 am. I don't know how long it will take the 10 of us to debark, etc. Any suggestions on what to tell Godfrey? Thanks! Love, Julia (got docs today too!!! woohooo)

serene56 Posted April 30, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Godfreys safari type jeep holds about 25 people. I have heard that he does take half to one Magen Bay and the other half to Saphire. On our tour he took everyone to Coki Beach. Godfrey knows the ships times etc.etc He will wait for you if you are running a tad late. Florida Beach Posted April 30, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 30, 2004 He is very nice. We missed his confirmation email (left home before he had a chance to reply) so we went with a tour booked on our ship. LornaT Posted April 30, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Godfrey (or one of the driver's he gets for you.....by the way if you get Timmy he's great!) will take you to whatever beach you want to go to. On our tour some wanted one beach, others another, a couple of folks wanted to go back to town to shop and we (Mom, Daughter and myself) wanted to go back to the ship. He took care of everyone. It really is a great tour.
Cyt4SoreEyes Posted April 30, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 30, 2004 How much is this tour..just curious?? redworm1 Posted April 30, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 30, 2004 I just got back from that tour it was great tour but the beach by coral world is free but not the best type of people around.I would pay the 3.00 extra to go try megans beach.coral world charges 18.00 to get in. but you are there for only two hrs. GayleR Posted April 30, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 30, 2004 We did the Godfrey tour in March and we chose Coki Beach for the snokeling, which was pretty good. I didn't notice any strange or bothersome people on the beach the day we went. Godfrey is wonderful and you get so much for your $20. Just remember to tip him, as some people (cheap and/or ignorant ) don't. Guest Posted May 1, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 1, 2004 We've just booked with Godfrey, but he didn't say anything about a beach. He said he would pick us up at the ship and take us downtown until noon. He then will pick us up and take us on a two hour tour. I asked him about Coral World, and he said he would take us after the tour and leave us there for two hours, but our ship sails at 4, so I guess we'll have to skip it. foilman2002 Posted May 1, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 1, 2004 Godfrey is excellent, and he will definitely try to accomodate any and all requests, however, he also definitely steers you to the beach he wants to go to. On our tour he told us how beautiful Magen's Bay was, but how much clearer the water was at Coki (this is also on his website). He then also mentioned how its $3.00 to get into Magen's, whether its for a minute, an hour or a day. Of course, everyone opted for Coki. I've heard of other tours where everyone opted for Magen's Bay, so I could only imagine what he said. The people on Coki Beach are fine, but the changing facilities leave a LOT to be desired. And while we didn't eat there, I wish I had. There is a shack on the end of the beach away from Coral World where somebody was smoking food, and it looked great. I heard it tasted great too. Here are some pics that include Coki Beach. The "postcard" type shots of the blue water from the top of a mountain is Magen's Bay. The fish at Coki will come up to you to be fed, so bring some bread or rolls from the ship, or buy some dog biscuits on the beach. The 5th picture is a group of people who "met" here on cruise critic and got together onboard. I thought it was funny and a great way of doing business. newbrunswicker Posted May 2, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 2, 2004 We used Godfrey in March 23 on a cruise on the Paradise. He is excellent! You may want to confirm your pick up time with him though. He told us he would pick us up at 10 AM ship time but it was almost 10:30 before he arrived. He said something about ship time and port time being different. We still had about 1 1/2 hours to shop which was plenty. His tour was very good. Although he would take you to any beach, he did say that Magen's charged $3 and was very crowded and he suggested Saphire beach which everyone chose. It was very pretty with beautiful clear water and not very busy. All in all a great bargain for $20 each considering the price of tours offered on ship. As others have said, don't forget to tip. He does an excellent job and is very appriciative. Bunkie103 Posted May 10, 2004 #17 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Great info, we did the tour and loved it. My DH kept asking if I was sure it was only $20. I will echo the comment about the changing facilities at Coki Beach. People we met on the ship did Sapphire and thought it had much nicer and cleaner changing facilities. Glory03 Posted May 11, 2004 #22 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I booked with Godfrey last December and he was full som he put us with Timmy. I thought Timmy was awsome and we had a great time. These guys will go out of there way to please you and their tour is a great buy. I wasn't interested in going to the beach as I wanted to see the Synagogue there that is one of the oldest in the world with sand floors. I didn't think Timmy could take us there as the roads are real narrow in that area, but he surprised us and took us there . Once we were done he picked us up back in the shopping area. I wish there was someone as great as these guys in Costa Maya for my upcoming cruise.
