2020 Juneau Whale Watching Moments

Like many Alaskan cruisers we were very sad to have our cruises cancelled.  There isn't a day that goes by that we don't think about our yearly visit. While we have had a few moments of sadness, we have had many moments of sunshine.  Fortunately for us, our favorite Juneau whale watching captain has been sending us videos from a few of her whale watching trips.  Even though business has been slow, we are grateful that she has chosen to share these moments with us.  Watching from afar, it has been exciting to see Flame and Sasha with their new calves, bubble net feedings, breaching, Orcas and quite a few humpbacks; it has been a very active season.  Keeping fingers crossed that we will be able to view these wonderful sights when we return in 2021.

Can you post the name of the tour company that you enjoy so much. We will be going next year- at least I hope we will

Here is the link to the tour company that we have used many times.  In fact, if all goes well, we will be going with her 3 times next year.  https://jayleensalaska.com/

You can also check out her reviews on Trip Advisor if you need more information.

We have gone whale watching 3x in Juneau with the amazing humpbacks.  Bubble net feeding on two of our trips were beyond our wildest imagination.  We got lucky and had a fabulous Captain on our small boat so we could travel quickly to where the humpbacks were feeding.

We do a lot of back-to-back cruises to Alaska and will go whale watching on both trips.  Sometimes, if our itinerary permits, we might get in 4 total whale watching tours (2 in Juneau and 2 in Icy strait.)  We are realistic when it comes to whale watching.  It is a given that we will see whales, whale tails and spouts.  Anything extra such as bubble net feeding and breaching are a blessing to us and not an expectation.  As for what month, we have gone in May, June and July and didn't see any real difference.
