MSC Cruises confirmed MSC Grandiosa will be able to resume sailing from Italy on Jan. 24.

 

The company had announced this date earlier, but today MSC noted the Italian government's ministerial decree allowing the resumption.

Follows Christmas travel restrictions

MSC Grandiosa will resume its weekly Western Mediterranean voyages following the forced pause of operations during the Christmas holiday season.

 

The ship will depart Sundays from Genoa for Civitavecchia (Rome), Naples, Palermo and Valletta in Malta. Embarkation will be available from each port in Italy.

30,000 passengers from Italy since summer

MSC Cruises has carried more than 30,000 passengers on board its two ships sailing from Italy since operations resumed in the summer.

MSC Cruises’ Grandiosa departed from Italy’s Port of Genoa on January 24 to resume its seven-night cruises in the Western Mediterranean.

 

The restart follows a brief pause over the festive period when the Italian government imposed a travel ban within the country.

Health protocol 

According to the cruise line, national authorities in Italy, Greece and Malta are using MSC Cruises’ health protocol to inform plans for restarting cruises in other parts of the world. 

 

MSC Grandiosa has transported 30,000 passengers since last August; MSC Magnifica is set to resume sailing from mid-February.
