Awesome news.  Congrats!

Thanks, Ken.  Nobody was more surprised than me !!

I did a calculation.  With the discounts that they gave me on the original booking (military and CAS balcony), it is a 71% savings as compared to the discounted "net" online price of the SLS (IOW, assuming the 60% discount).  I can't even get a casino rate like that !

I swapped a $3200 Empress OS for a $13000 Odyssey OS😉😁

They are definitely mortgaging the future to keep bookings and cash

I thought about trying to do another L&S to book the 8-nighter on the front side of this one (realizing that it would NOT be another SC suite and that we would have to switch rooms) but I realized that I am going broke saving money !!  Best to leave well-enough alone.

Did they allow you to lift and shift  an 8 night Empress western for an 8 night Odyssey Southern?

I don't recall the itinerary off-hand,  but both were 8 night trips

Looks like both were listed as Southern

Yes, an 8 night Western on NE can be shifted to an 8 night Southern on OY

In case anyone is interested, the "bait" is back up on the Empress 11-22-20 (6 night Western Caribbean) sailing.  The Royal Suite (which I relinquished from my L&S) as well as an Owner's Suite (which wasn't available when I booked the RS) are there.  The OS is a particularly good deal (IMO) at ~$1450 PP.  So if anyone is interested in a nice OS for next Nov. (probably Thanksgiving week...that's how it worked for me), you can go and book on Empress now and L&S to next year.  The bad news is, final payment date has come and gone so if you book this now, you will have to pay in full.  Still a good deal though.

Like others, we are maxed out through April of 2022. Now I'm exploring booking late 2021 and early 2022 Empress sailings.

The idea is that if (and this is big triple if) 1) the 2022/2023 cruises are opened for booking late this year, 2) Royal decides to sell Empress and 3) Royal allows L&S into the newly opened cruises, we might end up with nicely priced cruises in late 2022 and early 2023.

What do you think.

Not a bad strategy.  The worst that can happen is you get a refund if they offer no other options when they cancel.  OF course, you could get stuck with Empress cruises you don't really want if they don't sell her.

Actually, the worst that can happen is they go bankrupt and you lose all your money...but we won't go there...

Putting aside a bankruptcy that results in losing money, if I book before September 30, I think Cruise with Confidence would get me an FCC if Empress sails and I cancel.

If there is a bankruptcy, I book with a TA in Ontario, so I am covered for that too.

I could be wrong, but I believe the option to L&S ends on September 30th. The remaining "Cruise with Confidence" options will continue as an option for cruises that are booked prior to September 30th only.

NEW! Lift and Shift - Lift and Shift is for those guests simply wishing to move their existing booking to next year. For CWC guests that are ready to move to an alternative sail date in the following year, we’re happy to price protect the original pricing and/or promotion if the alternative sailing is the same itinerary, length, and stateroom category. However, the alternative sail date that the guest will be moved to, needs to be dated within 4 weeks (before or after) of the original sail date, but for the following year. For example, if you are moving from a July 30, 2020 sailing, you must move to a sailing that is the same itinerary, length, and stateroom category, and the sail date should be June 30th, 2021 – August 30th, 2021. To be eligible, guests must move their booking on or before September 30th, 2020.

You are correct, that's the current rule.  Number 3 of my ifs was meant to include Royal Caribbean extending both the time it could be used and allowing L&S into the new cruises.

We just got confirmation that another of our Empress L&S’s was approved.  This one is for a move to Symphony for Christmas 2021 in a JS.  The original Empress was a NY cruise.  This one was easy compared to the last one !

Congrats on your other L&S. You've got some good ones. It sometimes helps and makes a difference to have a very good TA.
