New England/Canada Fall Color CRUISE PORTS

Recommended Posts

I am looking to book a cruise in fall of 2021.  Most likely 11-12 days.  Time frame is late September or early October (suggestions on timing welcome as well).  My main question has to do with ports.

Which of these is a "don't miss" and which are "marginal" ports?  Info on these will help us select which cruise line to book with.

Montreal

Quebec

St. John's NL

St Pierre French Territory

Cornier Brook NL

Sydney NS

Saguenay QC

Halifax NS

Charlottetown PE

Bar Harbor ME

We've been to Boston and New York.  Either are fine to cruise out of but are not on the list above since we have been there before.  We can depart from anywhere.

Thanks!

All are good ports. Your choices most likely will be a 7 day or 14 day (the 14 day being B2B). For the most part, they all go to the same ports.

Not concerned about number of sea days and I'm ok with all of these cruise lines.

Options for ports by cruise line are below.  Kind of like ending in Quebec so we could stay a couple more days there but not a deal killer.  Any further suggestions?

Princess  10 nights (1sea)

NYC

Newport RI

Boston MA

Bar Harbor ME

St. John NB

Halifax NS

Sydney NS

Charlottetown PE

Quebec

OR

Celebrity 12 nights (2 sea)

Boston

Portland ME

St. John NB

Sydney NS

Quebec

OR

Royal Carribbean  11 nights  (3 sea)

Montreal QC (round trip)

St. Johns NL

St. Pierre French Territory

Corner Brook N:

Sydney NS

Saguenay QC

Ouebec

Hi Chelsea26

We taken the New England / Canada itinerary twice and have a third planned for October, 2021 with Princess.

Our favorite ports are in bold type:

Halifax, Canada

Quebec, Canada -- not to miss

-- Sainte Anne de Beaupre Basilica (one hour from Quebec) was a pleasant surprise with the beautiful paintings, mosaics, stained-glass windows.  The Pieta sculpture, an exact replica of Michelangelo’s (one of only two in the world) was beautiful.

-- Old Quebec City very walk able from the cruise terminal.  There are  many shops and great places to eat.  Many cruisers can be seen browsing and taking in the sights.  The French language was never a problem.

Saguenay, Canada – a pleasant surprise

Montreal, Canada

Sydney, Canada

Portland, Maine

Bar Harbor, Maine – not to miss

Tour the 47,000 acres Acadia National Park plus the lobster roll in town

Boston, Mass – not to miss

Especially around Columbus Day when the city is festive and alive

Newport, Rhode Island -- not to miss

-- We did not take the ship tour. Instead we went to the transportation center (two block from the pier) to sign up for a “hop on and hop” local narrated tour.  Very easy to do.  The trolley stopped at The Breakers and The Elms estates plus others mansions which are modeled after 18th century French & Italian Renaissance.  The town is very enjoyable with many shops plus close to the pier.

Have fun planning your cruise.  John
