Rare bronzey214 Posted August 28, 2020 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2020 Hi all - we're starting to schedule our vacations for next year in hopes that cruising returns. Our last cruise was on the Grand Princess to Alaska. Typically we are balcony people but for this cruise, we decided to do L308 - which was a oceanview with floor to ceiling windows. We loved the location - literally a few feet from the viewing deck and Slice/Salty Dog and if we saw anything interesting out the window, we could easily and quickly go out and see it outside. We have two cruises scheduled for next year - Alaska on the Ruby and Canada/New England on the Caribbean. We're comped balcony staterooms for these via the casino and we were looking at some of the "interesting" rooms on each ship (like the Rivieria balcony fully aft that's somewhat enclosed, or the extended balcony on Caribe). We aren't eligible for the aft balconies but we ended up picking Lido again because we loved the location so much. My question is - does the bridge interview with the viewing angles on the Lido deck balconies at all for these ships?
Abercrombie2019 Posted August 28, 2020 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2020 On both the Ruby and the Caribbean, the Bridge is on the deck below. The bridge might block the view if you are too far forward. We were on the Ruby in 2010 and we used to go to the viewing platform that was all the way forward on the Lido deck (above the bridge). It was a fantastic view point. skynight Posted August 28, 2020 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2020 Nice cabins, but those 6 or 7 port and starboard cabins between the lido deck entrances and the elevators receive a good amount of hall traffic from people leaving or going to the lido deck from the elevators. Many times offers for a balcony cabin is actually a guarantee of a balcony cabin and not a specific cabin. I would check this. Another practice is that when you select a cabin it is considered "upgrade will be acceptable." If you don't want an upgrade then you have to have your booking marked "no upgrade."
