Opinion on cruises going early February?

From the information now out there is the possibility of a cruise really going early February 2021?  I know there are many considerations but just would like to what others think.

I've had the same thought.  The closer it gets, the less likely it seems like it will happen. 

If the ports are closed, then NO.     If they impose the guided ship tours only rule that's even harder.

Most of the Caribbean ports I've been to so many times that we just go to lunch or a bar for a drink and stroll around.

My question is if no cruise, then what to do in February?????

It would be helpful if you mentioned cruises from where to where.  But if you are talking about embarkation out of USA ports there is really no answer until the CDC decides to green light any cruises in or out of US ports.  Right now nobody can predict what that CDC will do and I suspect they are spending a little time reviewing the public comments in response to their questions.  When cruises finally do resume there will likely be all kinds of restrictions imposed by the CDC.  The other question is whether any ports outside the USA will be open to ships from the USA.

Good point hiltner.  Thinking of a shorter cruise Mexico round trip out of LA.    Five or seven day to begin with.  It is great to see some of everyone’s thoughts,   Our family has enjoyed cruising for many years.   In fact one of our daughters married a princess cruise director!

I guess a cruise with limited ports is what's called a casino cruise.  But don't touch the cards.

Stand every 30 minutes and get sprayed down.

 

Last time we did a don't get off at port, we slept late,  ate late,  watched "TopGun" and "Casablanca", had popcorn . 

Still no room at the pool. 

 

We're book Feb 7th Carib. Princess Ft. Laudredale.

I think that it will boil down to personal level of tolerance. I have been reading about all the protocols currently in place by MSC and Costa in Europe, and I would be fine with them. Most are what I’ve been doing for work and my travels during the last few months anyway. So they’ve become as routine as putting my shoes on. 
 

I know though that a lot of people aren’t as accustomed to these protocols, and would consider them a huge determent. I do understand and respect their position. These new procedures will definitely not be for everyone.

For most people, I think the vaccine will have to have been widely distributed before they'll get back on a ship (myself included - I can't risk being quarantined and stuck away from home for 14 or more days).

We cancelled our February 2021 cruises. Even if they sail I don't believe it will be the cruise experience we enjoy. We booked February 2022 in hopes we can go. 2021 will be a gap year for us.

Ahhh.  I should disclose that we live in Puerto Vallarta for about 10 weeks a year and consider it our 2nd home.  At the current time the situation in Mexico with COVID is very bad and that includes Jalisco (Puerto Vallarta).  The system that is used in Mexico guarantees a big undercounting of COVID cases and the number of deaths would lead one to believe that the real COVID infection rate is very high.  I will also admit that DW and I still intend to spend the winter living in PV, but we do know the area and can take some reasonable precautions.  I am not sure what the situation will be regarding cruises to Mexico.  Not only will there be possible issues with simply going to Mexico but one can only guess what would happen when folks return to the USA.  Would they be required to quarantine for 2 weeks?  I have no clue.  It is a crazy world.

Which one?

We have a TA booked in April with HAL.

I have doubts that it will sail, and even higher doubts that our 2/28 sailing on the Caribbean Princess will happen.

My wife told me the other night that she doesn't mind if either of them are cancelled, but she's really hoping that things are back to normal in time for our October 2021 sailing from Quebec to Fort Lauderdale.

April 9th Fort Lauderdale to Copenhagen on Sky Princess. So I've got April Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona BUT I just heard / read on the roll call that the ship might go to Southampton instead. They need it in UK

 

Quebec to Florida might be the way to go. Keep it close to shore. Fly into Montreal for a few days than sail south

I believe you were on the sailing with us from Fort Lauderdale to Quebec last summer...we took the train to Montreal afterwards, and plan on doing it all in reverse next fall.

That was a good cruise. I unfortunately did not have a layover in Montreal. I wasn't impressed with Sydney but the rest of the stops were good.

I'm booked on the Royal Princess Dec 19 2020 which I'm thinking isn't going to happen. I hope I get a nice double deposit FCC if they cancel before I do. The policy as it stands now is 60 days prior to cruise final payment and FCC credits if cancelling 30 days out. I will wait and see and let them cancel first. I'll just keep piling the FCC's higher and deeper!

That's why we booked a February 2021 sailing just last week. It's not often that you get a good chance to double your money.

We'll simply stack all of our FCCs and apply them to our October 2021 cruise.
