Overhead Fred Posted September 16, 2020 #27 Share Posted September 16, 2020 Yesterday in St. Paul, I could really notice haze in the air from the western fires. tamsno Posted September 16, 2020 #29 Share Posted September 16, 2020 Good morning Dailyites! Thanks Rich, Roy and everyone. This continues to be such a special morning ritual. The beautiful Rotterdam is the only one of the group I was on. Rio to Athens 2007. A wonderful trip in true HAL style including a James Bond casino evening and dinner, and a formal cocktail party dance in the crows nest with the officers at the end for those on for the full 4 weeks. Prayers and Cheers! Cindy

Since all four of the recently sold ships are now in the hands of the new owners, I suppose it is a good time to stop tracking their movements. I hope all four have productive stays with the new owners. Amsterdam was the last of the fleet that I cruised on to complete the fleet. I had a very nice Alaska Cruise last year. Rotterdam I did the Voyage of the Vikings which was fabulous. Maasdam was the second ship I cruised on and had many more along with several on Veendam. Rich..... Will the Firth of Forth be their home anchorage.....I've missed who purchased her.......

Rare Vict0riann Posted September 16, 2020 #34 Share Posted September 16, 2020 Good morning, all, and many thanks to Rich and Roy for getting us together and telling us all about what is going on in the world of ships! We had wonderful cruises, just hope the smaller ships don't all disappear from HAL. The smoke is billowing around today - I suppose that means the air is at least moving slightly. Yesterday I saw a bee in my sedum, so that was a good sign, and it did rain a bit last night. However, we are expecting smoke for some time - it was even on the weather forecast chart yesterday on TV. The border between us and the US is going to remain closed through October 20, but no one told the smoke!
Dismomx5 Posted September 16, 2020 #35 Share Posted September 16, 2020 Thanks for keeping us apprised of the ships, Rich. Happy Days for those celebrating any/off the special days. It's a no on the dinner (hubby doesn't do ginger) and drink today for me (I don't like kahlua) and I'll have my moscato tonight. 🥂 Roy, thanks for the Care List. Kazu, enjoy your celebrations! What's for dinner for you and José tonight? Pool closed, grass cut and I picked up new tablecloths for Fall/Thanksgiving yesterday. Fall is here.
Cruising-along Posted September 16, 2020 #36 Share Posted September 16, 2020 Good morning all! Roy thank you for keeping me on your list throughout our trip and the welcome home. We got home yesterday afternoon, to smokey skies here in the Puget Sound. Apparently it was much worse while we were gone 😞 It was a fabulous trip -- we experienced temperature ranges from the teens to 100 F. Thank goodness we packed appropriately! We're already thinking about our next trip back there (especially if our spring cruise doesn't happen). 😞 I'll pass on the drink and meal suggestions (not a fan of pineapple or ginger). Who knows what we'll have for dinner tonight, the pantry is empty! First things first, we'll be visiting our grandsons today, getting groceries tomorrow! 😄 Stay safe and healthy everyone and wear your masks 🙂 I got a new one in Yellowstone, it has a bison on it. 😄

I just looked on the Roll Call and someone reported yesterday that the luggage is out of the containers and awaiting Customs clearance which is supposed to take 10-15 days. Rare rafinmd Posted September 16, 2020 #38 Share Posted September 16, 2020 I had a disturbing drive to the fire house today. At one of the crosswalks there was a guy with a big sign with photos of our masked governor and Hitler, and and several four letter words. The only one I can post here is Nazi. Will the Firth of Forth be their home anchorage.....I've missed who purchased her....... UK-based Fred Olsen Cruise Lines purchased both Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Borealis (Rotterdam) will be mostly home ported out of Liverpool in 2021, while Bolette (Amsterdam) will use Southampton before heading to the Azores and Madeira Since the stoppage in cruising earlier this year, Fred Olsen has positioned their ships in a "warm layup," initially at the Firth of Forth anchorage, then to Babcock's Rosyth (Scotland) facilities, formerly the Royal Naval Dockyard Rosyth 2

I better take a look in the little spare time I have today and get creative 😉

bennybear Posted September 16, 2020 #45 Share Posted September 16, 2020 (edited) Good morning and thanks! We too now have moderate smoke but predicted to get worse! Eek! I like ginger but spaghetti salad? And no no no to Kahlua and pineapple! Cabbage rolls instead! Marmot@Sea Posted September 16, 2020 #49 Share Posted September 16, 2020 Good Morning. The dinner suggestion sounds tasty but alas I do not have the ingredients in the house. So I guess chicken wings will have to do. We had more rain but the smoke is still hanging about. It is making for some very dreary days. A "small" Mexican flag. If I remember correctly this one is not as large as some we have seen in our travels. Val
Rare rafinmd Posted September 16, 2020 #50 Share Posted September 16, 2020 Rich, now that we're dropping 4 ships is it time to start including Rotterdam VII in the listings? I know it won't change much for a while. Not sure when she gets an IMO number. Roy
