Why?  And, why now?

Pretty expensive transit, with no one onboard to pay the tariff.  The "ballast" rate for a passenger ship is only $27 less per berth than if even one passenger is carried.

Knowing that this costs Carnival Corporation money, that is one of the reasons why I asked my questions.

I would love to be a "fly on the wall" in the inner sanctum in Seattle.

What is the plan?

May I join you on "that wall" in Seattle?  As well as the wall at Carnival Corporation headquarters in Miami.

This leaves Koningsdam as the only HAL ship in the Pacific. I would love to be a "fly on the wall" in the inner sanctum in Seattle.

Currently, KDam is on the schedule for Mexican Rivera cruises all winter ( the parts not yet canceled) and into the Spring. Plus, she us not approved for the Canal...lifeboat overhang issue. So staying on the West Coast seems appropriate.

Our appreciation to those who shared info about and pictures of the transit. Our last two cruises were on the Oosterdam and it was good to see her out and about again..... hopefully soon with people onboard and enjoying like we did.

She has transited the canal, but in the new locks.  EM
