To all of you who had 2021 cruises cancelled, I'm just wondering why your cruises were cancelled.  I had a March 2020 cruise cancelled and I rebooked a cruise for March 2021.  I'm wondering if that will be cancelled.

Mine started with the new pier 3 in Galveston being put off. The first to go was allure march 2022 b2b allure because it couldn't dock. The a month or so later was reading cc and it said feb 12 2021 jewel cancelled and forward from feb 21 2021 liberty taking over. Feb 12 was the 2nd week of a lot of us women who all booked together.

Imo they decided to send jewel early to europe. Then a month or so later a bunch of adventure 5 days were told no room to dock, move or lose a day.

Now adventure in europe later on in summer is moving to jewel, and some ship moving to brilliance. I'm sure there are more.

The good thing is prices have been awesome compared to how they were back last march. My last booking the price was irresistible. Ports up in the air, and will be protocols, but will get me up a loyalty level if they quit cancelling me. Someone said dont book to get up a loyalty level. Until I'm pinnacle then I'll stop.

Next up my bargain hump. Ship changes have been crazy, no one reason. Galveston it's the lack of pier 3 they counted on. Now disney, carnival and rcl share 2 piers.

I have never cruised before and I’m really not sure I will now.

I have been enjoying a cruise vacation since 1986.  I would not consider booking a cruise now until things return to normal. No masks, no social distancing and no mandatory shipboard excursions that other lines that have started up are doing. Now is not the time for a first time cruiser to try out cruising. Too much at risk as you have already found out. Get a refunded if you can and plan a different type of vacation.  You can decide if you want to try cruising when things revert back to normal.

Rcl made many changes that hit me. Dont expect sympathy here. Galveston was hit hard. Allure changed to Liberty. Next Feb 12 which was the 2nd leg of a b2b totally cancelled and others after that date changed from jewel to liberty. When I complained about feb 12 just being outright cancelled John told me it's all part of the same thing, like who cares. The only people that care are those hit.

I don't think anyone is looking for sympathy. You have been following along since the beginning of Covid and have seen what is happening. I can't believe that you are surprised to see cancellations and itinerary changes. Cruising hasn't even started up in the US. Why would you think that your Feb 2021 wouldn't have a chance of being canceled or modified? People who just keep booking and booking before there is light at the end of the tunnel are just setting themselves up for disappointment. Where is all of that optimism that I have been reading about?

I'm optimistic. I do think we will be cruising by then. Never said I didnt think I had a chance of not being affected. Anyone would be disappointed when it's your week they cancel of a leg of your b2b. Especially when you find out here on cc not from rcl.

I also feel bad for all those caught up in the newest round of moving to jewel, being cancelled from jewel etc. Hopefully more of them will get cabin assignments today.

Like everyone else I'm hoping for more news after oct 1st. More clarity. Soon!

What I don't understand is this statement they sent me for Jewel August B2B Baltics and British Isles cruises that were cancelled.  From what I understand, these cruises were always very popular, booking up fast...and yet...they cancelled both of them.  Not happy.  I still have Harmony B2B booked to leave in 2 months, plus getting requests for final on January Freedom B2B.  I seriously doubt those will happen, but they haven't officially cancelled those.  But they DID cancel way into August.

Over the next few weeks, we will be making schedule and itinerary adjustments to some of our 2021 summer sailings for five of our ships. These changes are being made after tapping into market research and listening to feedback and input from guests and trade partners on opportunities for adventure for this upcoming summer, as we work to apply the best available public health, science and engineering insights to deliver a safe and healthy cruise vacation. Regrettably, as a result of these shifts, our August 8, 2021 Jewel of the Seas cruise has been cancelled.

My May 21 Greek Islands cruise on Vision was cancelled this morning via email. I spoke to an agent who just said the ship had been re-deployed. Disappointed but also expected given the current climate.

I was very disappointed that the Boston Repro cruise was cancelled for 2001..........it always filled up.......I really think it was poor planning by someone to just move the ship down to Florida empty..............There are many ships in Florida and are they all going to be full ?   Well anyway I am getting over it...........I booked another cruise or two................

We got hammered too and are pretty frustrated. We had a TA booked on the Rhapsody in the Royal Suite for 11/20 that was cancelled. We did L&S to Jewel for 10/21 that was 2 nights shorter, but we were satisfied for the most part. That was then cancelled in the shuffle with no regards to price protection. The agent I talked to was rude and basically told me to suck it up as there was nothing to that would be done for us. After talking to his supervisor I was able to (hopefully) secure our $600 OBC we had accrued. Obviously now the prevailing rates are nearly 2x what we paid originally..if you can even find an RS. So aggravating.

Did you post any sympathy for us? Just pointing out people dont care here if it's not them.

This post was rather unnecessary. Everyone is in the same boat, obviously the OP was posting to hear what others thought. No need to assume the worst in people or take out your own frustration on someone else. Sounds like projection to me.

I’m looking to cancel/move our February 27th Western Caribbean cruise, a pity since the excursions we have planned are interesting. But I am dubious as to whether it will sail, and with what restrictions. Further complicated by us being in Europe, and intercontinental flights etc.

For once a cancellation worked in my favor.  My Sept 10,  2021 Radiance Vancouver to Hawaii sailing was cancelled.  I was able to book Sept 26, 2021 Serenade Vancouver to Hawaii in the same cabin for $2100 less.  The Serenade cruise is one night longer but one port less.  The timing works out better for me and I will be able to spend 1-1/2 weeks in Hawaii post-cruise.

We are disappointed with the cancelation of our August 2021 Vision cruise. We had moved from a B2B on Rhapsody to Vision because they had changed the home port from Venice to Ravenna.

We then booked a JS for the 1st time, and would have received double points, under the latest promotion  which would have taken us to almost D+  Had we not moved from Rhapsody we would still have a booking, but we particularly wanted to return to Venice, so we are waiting eagerly for the 2022 itineraries to come out . We have decided not to re- book anything for 2021.

I wonder if the length of cruises might be a factor in some of these ship shifts?

Here's one example...

We were booked on an 11 night Sydney roundtrip, October 2021, in a JS, and got a great deal...just over 4k.

We were notified that this cruise was cancelled.  Royal changed this cruise into a 7 night and 4 night sailings.

We were initially told "No worries, you are price protected and can keep the same cabin."

A week later, we were informed "Oh sorry, no price protection...your cabin was sold...and if you want a JS, the 7 night sailing is now $5,800+ and the 4 night is now $2,000+".

As John McEnroe would say: "You cannot be serious!"

Note: Frustrated because the original 11 night sailing we booked was in the middle of consecutive cruises...sigh.

If by projections you mean I think people here like you go out of their way to be a little mean, yea it's what i think. Entitled to my opinion.

When i was disappointed by the move from allure to liberty i got such comments as well you knew allure wasnt going. Or it's all part of the same thing about pier 3. Like I'm not entitled to be disappointed they sent Liberty back. There are so many ships of rcl I have not been on I hoped they would send a new ship, different than liberty. True, I didnt expect allure, but also true I hoped for a ship new to me.

I do think some are unnecessarily unkind. Just no reason for it. And yes it's my opinion. I'm projecting my opinion.

Cruising is a lot of fun and I wouldn't deprive yourself of the experience just because of what you mentioned. Remember ultimately you will be the one who suffers should you dig your heels in and refuse to book a cruise.

I know people who tried a cruise and will never do another one. It isn't for everyone. And the return to cruising isn't going to be as it was for awhile. I'm not sure it will be right for me for some time.

I totally understand wanting to try different ships. We love cruising on new ships, when we can. My husband gets bored doing the same ships, his motto is “New ship or new itinerary”.  Since we usually book using offers sent to us from the casino, we do repeat a lot of the same ships. So I do understand your disappointment in not getting a different ship out of Galveston.

We are in a similar boat (no pun intended). Did a L&S from Sept 2020 to Sept 2021.

Same for us, except it was October.  We got our deposit refund and are disappointed in the cancellation.  But who knows if a 12 night cruise would have been feasible by fall of next year anyway.  Our next reservations are January 2022 and those have been changed from Freedom to Explorer and we lost a good cabin for the B2B2B.  Glad we had a lot of great cruises and reached D+, but I don't really know when we'll cruise again.  If maskes and numerous restrictions are still in place January 2022 we won't be cruising.  We've made other plans for this winter and are putting cruising out of our mind for now.

To the OP, sorry you lost your cruise.  Unfortunately even in normal times they cancel cruises for various reasons.  Covid has just made everything much worse.
