How it might work

Mein Schiff 6,  a beautiful German ship left Crete today for a Greek cruise.  All passengers needed to pass a Covid test within 72 hours and they were charter flights.  Hoping this provides a glimmer of hope of how things might work.

Number was up to 12 crew (out of 150 random tests =  about10% of those tested) as of last night around 8pm (according to the Washington Post).

Now reported that these were 'False Positives' and the cruise is continuing with no Covid onboard.

 

The cruise ship "Mein Schiff 6" can continue its journey. The alleged corona cases among crew members turned out to be a misdiagnosis by the responsible laboratory on Tuesday.

 

All-clear: But no corona case on "Mein Schiff 6".

The twelve seafarers who allegedly tested positive for the corona virus were tested again on Tuesday - both by the TUI Cruises shipping company and twice by the Greek authorities. The results were always negative, said TUI Cruises. The results of the final third series of tests by the Greek authorities finally turned out to be negative on Tuesday afternoon, as the Greek state television reported.

Ship brought to Piraeus

On Monday it became known that in scheduled tests among 150 of the 666 crew members twelve seafarers had shown a positive result. The tests were carried out on behalf of TUI Cruises by a Greek laboratory in Crete. The captain then broke off the voyage, those concerned were isolated and the ship went directly to the port of Piraeus

Upsetting for sure,  to find out all the positives were false!  But better than the alternative.  They have been doing an at sea day in Piraeus while they were waiting. Ship retested and Greek authorities have confirmed they were false.
