Thanks Laszlo! Sure do miss the spa...was able to do a 2 week cruise on Bliss right before the world went crazy ending the day of the SuperBowl this past February. Already feels like it was many years ago...Hoping to get another chance down the road...but spas sadly may not be open for quite some time I'm afraid.

We had a two week on the Jade booked for February...... going to miss cruising for a while

I’m only considering a spa pass to have access to the deck area with cushioned chairs.  My husband is far less interested.

How strictly is access enforced?  Is it with a keycard like vibe?  Does he need his own pass just to check on me here and there during the day?

They check everyone coming in and take their seapass card. I doubt passengers who paid the money for the experience of peace and quiet would not appreciate random people coming into the spa area to check on their significant other ..... No pay, no entry ....

Enjoyed watching this video Laszlo, thanks for posting. Excellent videography (slow, steady) and fade out scene transitions. I noticed in a couple of your reflections that you had a hand-held camera? How did you manage to keep the videography so steady?

 

Oh btw, I also liked the accompanying music. Thanks again.

Thank you! The music is just some noodling on one of my guitars. The camera in that video was a Removu K1 Camera. For the last year or so I've been using the DJI Osmo Pocket which is a great little camera with a 3 axis gimbal. The K1 has a gimbal but not as good as the Osmo Pocket. My moms doctor knew we were going on a cruise....we came home...mom had shingles.....doctor said......you didn’t go in the hot tub did you? 
 

Yeah she did.....We have never gone in one since. Ick!

More room for the rest of us 😉! The thermal suite pool and hot tub on Norwegian are very clean. I've been in them several times.

Love the SPA also, but you would not catch me in SPA until there is a vaccine (reliable/safe) available.

The singles vaccine has been out for a few years now. I you have not received the vaccine take a look into getting it. Shingles can be freaking horrible. I got mine vaccine two years ago

Well dang, we have a Haven Spa Suite on the Escape in Feb 2021 because of the wonderful Thermal Spa.

I would look at a different suite (like an aft haven suite) if the spa is closed.

I got my first shot for the shingles vaccine recently. I have to go back to get the second shot. As I understand it, they came out with a newer shingles vaccine and it has to be administered in 2 separate shots.

 

Heck, I didn't even know there was a vaccine for shingles. But, my Dr highly recommended I get it because I am of the age now where it is recommended to get it. Never had shingles and never want to get it hence, why I am getting vaccinated.

Strange thing for a doctor to say as you can't catch shingles from another person, the virus can be spread to another person but only if the other person has never had chickenpox, the infected person will then get chickenpox but not shingles.

Yea, I was wondering about that too (Getting it from a tub).  I have actually had shingles, what caused it was two things:

 

1.  Having chickenpox as a kid.

2.  Having a lowered immune system/high stress situation (I was on a z-pack for extreme back pain)

 

I was told I should probably not get it again, as most adults only get one occurrence, but have been thinking about getting the shot as well.  I was also told you don't get them from anyone else, they are caused by your immune system allowing your chicken pox virus to come back to the surface.

I am not expert, and just telling you what I was told though, so.....take it for what it's worth (not too much).

I'm not sure if this is a sign of things to come in the USA once cruising resumes, but the thermal suite area is closed on ships sailing under the Carnival umbrella in the EU.

I was thinking the same thing. I have had shingles before it is terrible and the doctor said it was probably stress related.

So are they closing the pools and the hot tubs on the entire ship? I hope Norwegian can figure something out so the spa can stay open.

Yes, that's the horrible thing about Shingles, once you have had chickenpox, the virus sits waiting to come back as Shingles when your system is weakened, a time when you can least cope with it.

This doesn't answer your question at all, but the casino near me just opened it spa back up.   I only bring this up to say that spa openings are trending towards yes.   I imagine that 90% of the spa will be open and available if the cruise is as well.
