Port of Juneau Webcam

A NOAA vessel is trying to dock currently at one of the cruise ship docks visible on the web cam.  (At least, I think that is what it is trying to do.)  It has approached the dock at least twice and has backed away twice.  No linesmen visible on the dock, which is odd.  Now, the vessel is backing into the harbor.  No radio traffic that I have heard, so I wonder what is going on.

The ship is now trying to dock again.  Still on sign of linesmen on the dock.

Google Port of Juneau Harbor web site.

 

Whatever the ship was trying to do seems to have been accomplished.  It's out of the web site's range and has "disappeared".  

 

Maybe the Master was trying to give some experience on how to dock to a Junior Officer or more.  Very unusual visuals and that is why I decided to create a thread.

 

My thinking is sheer speculation.

One does not often see any ship arrival at Juneau this season.  I thought this was an interesting one to view; that's why I made my post.  Really don't understand what was going on.  The crew had bumpers deployed on the Port side.  First thought that they were going to dock at the USCG base in Juneau based on what I saw on the port cam.  Then, the ship started to move back and forth to the first cruise ship dock.  Then....?  Lost sight of it.
