FCC ? -- can we use them for a deposit on another cruise?

Recommended Posts

We have FCC from a HAL cancelled cruise - they haven't posted to our accounts yet.  Are we able to use them as a deposit on another cruise?  I don't want to give HAL more $ for them to hold.  TIA.

To the best of my knowledge, you need to do the deposit and then you can apply the FCC.  At least that was the case for us but our FCC was pending when we booked.

Fortunately we had a Future Cruise Deposit left and I don’t know how or why but even though our cruise was over 14 days, no other monies were required.  My TA said they had temporarily increased the time for the FCD’s but I wonder if it’s because they knew we had an FCC?

If you happen to have an FCD, that’s the idea scenario.

I think I have read that some succeeded doing the FCC as a deposit but most did not.  Worth a try, by all means.

Thanks -- I just 'chatted' with HAL & the FCC gets applied to the base fare, not for the deposit.

I guess it depends on who you get when you call HAL because my FCC ($600) did get applied as the deposit on a cruise I booked for next year.  She had to clear it with her supervisor but when they applied it the deposit showed as paid.  Maybe it had something to do with the fact that it was originally a deposit for a cruise that I was supposed to be on next week. 🤷‍♀️

Maybe I will give them a call, thanks.

We used our FCC as a deposit on our cruise for next September.   The FCC was from a cruise HAL cancelled when they sold the Rotterdam and the new cruise was the replacement.

I was just able to apply a $950 FCC from a cancelled 2020 cruise to 2021 booking on the Nieuw Stantendam. This amount was just taken off of the total cost of the cruise. No deposit was listed on the receipt or asked for. Also, it seems that the Past Passenger Rate is combinable with the Casino rate for a great discount.

I just re-booked yesterday. Had $8500 FCC from a March 2020 no-sail cruise. That amount went towards 2 cruises sailing next year, 2021, but ONLY towards Base Fares, can not be used for dining, booze Pkg. , excursions, Taxes, Port Fees etc.
