If you have some people test positive and are not allowed to board, then depending upon the number of positive with determine the odds of an ill person making it on board. The positives give some insight into the population that is board. Considering that false negatives with this illness is pretty high (around 20% even with PCR according to John Hopkins), if you get positives, the changes of a false negative is there.

I sincerely wish what you are saying were true.  But many people travel by flight to their cruise, and often stay a day or more in the port city beforehand.  It can take several days for the virus to show up in tests, especially the quick tests which are not as accurate.  So someone could get sick on their way to the cruise, (or for that matter, right before they leave home), take the test before boarding, and still come down with the virus a few days in.  So while I certainly think all the pre-cruise testing helps reduce the odds, to call them slim I believe is optimistic.

I'm content to wait to see what the cruise lines come up with after consulting with specialists.  We passengers have had our non-eductated say, rather opinion....stay safe all
