Good morning to all Dailyites!

DH thinks meatloaf would be a good idea every day. And as you can see from our photo, we are quite partial to beards here, LOL! The Vesper sounds very interesting, but I will have to check with our in-house Ocean Bar bartender, so see if he's up for a cocktail today. Baked spaghetti sounds terrific, but our supermarket put chicken roasters on loss leader, so roast chicken it will be -- with lots of leftovers for soups/stews/etc. And wine. Today's suggestion sounds terrific, but we will make do with a lesser, but in the house, pinot noir.

Love the photos, cartoons, comments from all of you. Thank you for brightening our day!

Be safe. And please wear a mask.

Good morning Rich. Thank you for the Daily. Ever faithful.

Jeez. Red wine on my birthday. 🙄

Thank you Ann, Roy, and summer. Good morning to you and our special sister Denise. I miss hearing from her.

Yesterday after Farmer's Market we went to lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant, so our dinner tonight is back to chicken, pasta, veggies, cake and wine.

My sister was supposed to zoom call with me wearing our silly shirts. She ordered a bundt cake from Nothing Bundt Cake and we were supposed to celebrate. Well, the times were wrong. She said 6 and I thought that was my time to logon, but she meant 6 her time and we were already celebrating next door at neighbors. So pictures will have to do..

So Ann, I understand you're not a meatloaf lover? Maybe this cartoon is for you🥰

Gack, Musician Jokes!

Everyone have a beautiful day. God's blessings for all on Roy's prayer list and celebrations to all.

Good morning, all! Happy Birthday , Joy!

Baked spaghetti was actually my plan for today, although if DH finds out it’s Meatloaf Appreciation Day, the menu may change. He loves meatloaf! We came back to the island from the mainland yesterday. It is definitely woodstove weather now. Luckily we have lots of wood split this year.

Three years ago today we were at Katakalon, Greece - of course we went to where the Olympic games began and ran a bit.  This was the beautiful sunrise that welcomed us into port that morning.

I love meatloaf..... and I may fix it for dinner this evening. A small one should carry me through part of next week..... and meatloaf sandwiches are a favorite.

Weather here in Southwest Colorado continues warm and very dry..... extreme drought dry. Fortunately we are not having the awful fires that the Boulder and Fort Collins areas are having. We went through fires  near Durango a few years ago, but not nearly as bad as the folks in the northeastern part of the state are having it. I still remember how frightening it was to watch the smoke and actually see flames on the hills above us. The dogs and I are were packed and ready to leave. Colorado is a state of extremes. I also remember sitting on the ship at Tahiti in February and emailing my neighbor to get someone to shovel my roof. Would prefer the snow to the fire.

Mmmm!  We like our meatloaf recipe so that sounds good but the baked spaghetti sounds interesting too.  Will have to discuss with chef DH.

Thank you for including us on your lists Roy.  I heard yesterday that the pain was less in MIL's leg.  No report yet today.  Hoping she will feel better soon and I'm sure the prayers from y'all are helping.

Happy Birthday Joy!  Enjoy!

Denise, glad to see you here today.  We love your special contributions to the Daily.

Good morning all and thank you to Rich and Roy.  Happy Birthday to @Seasick Sailor

Amazing news here this morning.  All those tour boat companies that depend on the cruise ships for business, whale watching, etc., got together and the Provincial Government hired them to clean up the west coast of the Island - more than 100 people, small boats and zodiacs, they had a drone to hunt for areas needing cleanup, and a helicopter to haul the debris away, and they collected over 127 tonnes of debris, rope by the kilometre, fishing nets and styrofoam that had washed up on  shore.  It was taken by barge to a large landfill up the Island.

The only sad part is - just imagine what is still remaining in the ocean...

Good morning all!

Beards -- when I was about 3 or 4 my Dad grew a beard for Centennial Day.  They say that I cried  when he shaved it off, and looking at the photos from then, I will say he did look good with a beard!  My son-in-law has a beard and looks very nice with it too.  Since he's a PA I remember there was some consternation that he may have to shave it off due to the masks....happily for all of us he didn't have to shave.  Rich, I know you're another who will not be celebrating "no beard day" We sure wouldn't recognize you without it! 😄

To celebrate pasta day yesterday we got a ton of food from our favorite Italian restaurant.  We drive 40 minutes each way, it's that good.  The owner/chef comes from Milan and his wife and children help out, especially during these hard times of Covid.  We're very happy to see that they seem to be doing well, the parking lot was full last night.  We've only gotten take-out during Covid, but have done that many times to help them out.  We got enough food to bring for our dinner tonight in Leavenworth.

Here's a photo of Stromboli from last year.  We were very lucky to see it "going off" when we were nearby.

What a great idea. I'm sure those doing the cleanup could use the income - and then some.

We also passed by Stromboli last year during its eruption.  We hung around for maybe an hour and a half, turning circles.  Here's what it looked like after dark.

DH got some great after-dark photos too, will have to look for those.  It was spectacular!

I found them.  We were on our balcony for hours that night, DH had his big-guns camera, much better than my phone pics lol.  A highlight of the cruise!

I will need to pass on No Beard Day since I have not shaved since near the start of the pandemic - all part of my social distancing strategy (going for the Rasputin look!).

Supposedly, the Vesper first appeared in the Ian Fleming Bond novel "Casino Royal". It is an interesting variation on the Martini that I quite like. Cocchi Americano can be used in place of the Lillet, the Cocchi has a slightly more bitter taste (which I prefer). I may need one after I watch the Vikings disappoint me once again today!

Here are some pictures from the Morne Coubaril Estate gardens in Saint Lucia -

Thanks everyone for this daily, from Rich and Roy to all who contribute. My sister requested meatloaf as her meal of choice when she and my bil visit this week. She says hers doesn’t taste like our Mother’s and she wants to see what I do different. No pressure, first time they have been to visit my little cabin on the river. This will be the only dinner I have made her in years as she is a gourmet cook and does all the cooking for family holidays.  It better be a perfect meatloaf.

And people get excited if there are fireworks when the ship leaves port.

Now I realize who you remind me of, Grigori! 😜

About 30 years ago I grew a beard which I had for a couple of years.  One night I decided it had to go and cut it off.  Next morning our son (probably aged about 8 yrs) came into our bedroom, looked at me, then told DW 'I want my old daddy back'.  He didn't speak to me for a couple of days until he got used to the naked face again 😭
