Yikes there are some entitled people in here.  You aren't getting the promo because they know you are still going to cruise.

Is it? There are at least 5 other mass market cruise lines with similar itineraries  I can choose from year round. What makes you think many of us will continue to choose Carnival?

I've never booked a promo rate. What about people like me who dont gamble ... I'd like a cheers for free offer.

There is one currently out there,  The only people I have witnessed getting it are cruisers who have not cruised Carnival in a while.  I personally saw the email they received.

I got the email for the free Cheers, but right now I have no interest in the Caribbean. I lost 6 sailings this year, 2 Royal, 2 MSC, and 2 Carnival. I have $400 in gift cards for Carnival, so I will probably save those for either the Mardi Gras or new Celebration (fingers crossed for a TA).
I only have 2 bookings left on Royal next Apr/May for Asia, and TP, and the TP has been blocked now. I have found a couple of RT sailings out of Southampton next Sept., on the Anthem, so might look at those. Would be some new ports, plus I like the double points offer next year. As a solo, that’s 4 points per day, and gets me closer to 340 for the solo discount.

I don’t know how their marketing works for the Cheers offer, but I’m Diamond and just sailed the 24 night repo on the Splendor to Singapore last year.
Sorry that some of you didn’t get the offer.

I just did a mock booking for a Panorama cruise. Since it’s a non-refundable deposit for the Cheers package, I also checked Early Saver price. While some of you may have have gotten a good deal, for this solo traveler, the Cheers package price was $200+ more. I don’t buy the Cheers package normally, so for those that are bigger drinkers, I can definitely see the savings. Personally, I wouldn’t spend $1200 right now, just for the added Cheers package. I think it’s definitely a deal for those that already had cruises booked and normally buy the Cheers package.

With Carnival removing all 8+ day cruises till November of 2021 because of the CDC ruling, it looks like your cruise is on life support unless the CDC lifts their ban.  I would contact your TA or Carnival directly to see what your options are.

Surprised to see people so pissed off that didn't get the offer.  We sail most lines but Carnival always ends up being our favorite.  We have been sailing them for over 10 years. My husband is platinum and I am 7 days from it. We both got the offer. We had 1 cruise cancelled in 2020 due to COVID and had not rebooked yet.  This is the FIRST offer we have received in the 10+ years with Carnival.  There have been plenty of other offers out there that others have received and we haven't. I consider it the luck of the draw. Out last Carnival cruise was 10/2019. Our friends also received the offer.  They have only been on one Carnival cruise. There does not seem to be rhyme or reason to who got it.

As you stated, there does not seem to be rhyme or reason to who got it.  You're husband is platinum.  This is the first instance I believe of someone who has posted in this thread that they received the promo who is platinum.   This selective marketing by Carnival is the main reason that those who did not receive the offer is pissed off about it.  I am fully aware that Carnival's marketing strategy has been geared towards obtaining new cruisers and also towards attempting to gain some loyalty amongst reds and golds.

Other lines such as Celebrity,  Princess,  NCL and MSC all offer bundled promotional packages that include their drink packages.  Royal offers discounted packages at times.  Carnival has previously only given Cheers or the drinks on us variation to gamblers.   They have never offered it to the general public. If they had, my Mardi Gras cruise in August would turn into my first B2B.  I am hoping I get the offer eventually,  but I will not hold my breath waiting for it.

DH and I are both platinum.  He got the offer; I didn't.  Neither of use drink....never even bought one drink on board on any cruiseline.  In addition, everything is always on my room card (casino, jewelry, art) and on my credit card.  Tips are pre-paid.  So...technically...his expense is $0.

So what exactly is the markup per person, per night, when the Cheers package is included in the fare?

The post you quoted said it was $200ish more, I guess for a week than the current ES price.

I'd like the offer to compare myself. My price dropped $20, but i have a $50 obc to book I'd lose if i repriced, so i might not even want it. I just think it shows carnival isn't the best place for me if they dont want my business in the future enough to offer it to me.

As I said earlier, as a solo, rcl seems to want me more. Carnival used to do 1A without solo supplements, then moved to want to pack in as many pax as possible. During covid they might find they care more about those who wandered away. Obviously they will have more empty cabins if they do reduced capacity very long. True the solo cabins on rcl and ncl are very small, but if I want to see some place that is expensive like panama or alaska, at least other lines offer solo cabins.

I'll take my next carnival cruise, but I might be done unless carnival matches what I can get elsewhere cheaper. I've cruised carnival I'd guess over 15 years. And only rcl and ccl go out of Galveston. When I used to cruise a lot more  I booked both as I got to know every show and menu by heart. But maybe it's time to move on as I dont seem to be carnivals target pax right now. My next rcl cruise I have a premium balcony for 884 including fees and taxes. They have had lots of prices where solos dont pay 200%, and oh yea, their double pts promo for 2021 is for everyone. Instead of 2 pts for solo, it seems I will get 4 loyalty pts per day for a regular cabin. Its 6 pts a day for JS and up.

If rcl offers me deals and carnival doesnt, why would I continue to book with them? I'll go where the better price is. Unless I sell my carnival stock you guys stuck with me. I think carnival is making a marketing mistake, my opinion as a stockholder. Alienating some of us. I also notice the ones who think those who didnt get it are petty all got it. Funny how those who got it think I and some others shouldn't care we were left out. Empathy is in short supply on cc.

@firefly333

You do realize that a computer decided who got it and who didn't....not someone going thru all the accts to see who's worthy!

Anyway...it sounds like RCL does better by you.  If I were single I'd jump at an $884 premium balcony.  I'd actually think you were stupid if you didn't go for it.

Just because you own stock doesn't mean you need to be loyal.

I did a few mock peeks at some cruises, and it’s more like $120-140 (solo) difference in price from ES. So for a couple $60-70 difference for a one week cruise. If you were planning on booking a Carnival cruise anyway, then it’s a good deal.

Yes, but it was a bean counter or some non genius in their marketing department that decided that selective marketing is the way to go.  They're taking a rifle approach instead of a shotgun approach with this promotion.  Carnival needs money to be put in the coffers NOW.  They are hemorrhaging funds on a daily basis because of the Pandemic.  Why on earth would you be selective with a promo? Let everyone have it that wants it.  Not everyone will take advantage of the program since not everyone drinks alcohol.   And the excuse of those that like to imbibe heavily will pay for Cheers does not hold water.  If Carnival offered this to everyone, I would get it and turn my August cruise into a B2B, adding additional monies that Carnival desperately needs at this time.  Without the offer, no B2B.  So, Carnival's marketing short sightedness will cost them my additional booking and who knows how many others.

I do feel bad for those who did not get the deal.  we would not have gotten the package normally.  will I drink more (coffee/ frozen drinks/ cocktails/ wine) now that I know I have it? yes, but I think all VIFP should get it.  more people book, the better. right?  like I said before the last time I got a deal like this was over 10 years ago from celebrity and you had to have an ocean view room or better.

I’m pretty sure Carnival’s marketing team knows a little more than you about marketing their cruises.  They won’t miss you.

Thanks for finding out.

So for a couple in a cabin, 10 per person per night is a very good bargain for the Cheers package.

We didn't get the offer. I was wondering if I can phone Carnival or my travel agent and ask if it can be included/ added on for Cruises already booked.

As far as we are hearing and seeing, no. You have to be offered and once offered, almost everyone had to have a new booking. Only Stellarose on this thread had it retroactively applied.
