7 carnival ships at nassau..

There are 7 carnival ships outside of Nassau , check it out on the nassau Port cam, any ideas on what's going on.

Go to paradise island site, you can see all the ships as the cam rotates..

Ships that have been restricted from entering US waters have been anchoring off Caribbean islands so they can have access to supplies. Bahamas is one of those ports that have welcomed the ships.

Aren't these all of Carnival's ships that are supposed to be sailing in February? Maybe they are resupplying and getting ready for trial cruises.

 It makes sense that these would be the first ships sailing due to their location. Two of the Carnival ships are planned to be the first doing test cruises from Florida... Carnival Horizon and Carnival Breeze. Both were in port in Miami this week for 2 days or so.

It also might be that it is easier and/or more convenient for crew to fly into the Bahamas.

Crews needs to rejoin ships in international water and be on the ship for 30 days before returning to US waters ive been told.

Carnival does have the extra environmental training and policy implementation imposed by a US Court to complete in addition to any CDC COVID safety recommendations that all the lines must show compliance with.

 

I won't be holding my breath for Carnival sailings in the beginning of 2021.  Maybe by late spring or summer?

No, they don't need to join in international waters, just a country that allows crew changes.  And, yes, the ship needs to provide the EDC (enhanced data collection) form for the crew for 28 days prior to getting a "green status", a pre--requisite to applying for a Conditional Sailing Certificate.  Carnival Corp ships voluntarily did not supply the EDC while the ships were outside CDC jurisdiction, unlike other cruise lines, so they have to clear this hurdle as well as what other cruise lines need to do.

And, as for the question at the top of the article, by remaining at anchor, the ships did not need pilots or immigration officials to come onboard, so limiting both the Bahamian officials exposure, and the crew's exposure to the Bahamians.

Hmmm. Marine Traffic website shows the Horizon heading to Miami right now, after sailing around the Bahamas for a few days. Almost like their earlier visit to Miami was to pick up "passengers" (maybe corporate members) and then making a "practice" cruise. The Breeze was in Miami earlier, and is now docked at Freeport. Maybe another practice cruise? And the Freedom (ported in Galveston) is anchored south of Freeport, maybe getting ready to hit Miami for a start of a practice cruise? Speculation, of course.....but interesting....

According to cruise mapper, it shows, celebrity silhouette, MSc seaside, and the horizon in port of Miami.  The navigator is heading in.

Could be. But Carnival said they were concentrating on the Horizon and Breeze in Miami for the start of cruises, and then Galveston, where the Freedom is ported. Just keeping my eye on them 🙂
