I casually mentioned we finally got the offer to the “powers that be”. He said to book another one. Who am I to fight him?! 3 (🤞🏻) cruises in 2021. Looking like we will add a Glory sailing in August or September. 🍾🛳⚓️

Sounds like you are a fan of Cove Balconies. I realize this isn't  the "topic" but Megan can you tell me why you would choose a Cove over a typical Balcony? We have always done Interiors but are branching out to Balconies and the Cove is new to us.

On Carnival, the cove balconies are closer to the ocean.  On the Excellence Class ships, they are on deck 5, with only deck 4 having cabins below, which are ocean view.  On the Vista Class ships, they are even closer to the ocean being on deck 2, with only deck 1 ocean view below.

This is in comparison to the new Royal builds, which have their balconies starting on deck 6, with cabins on decks 3-4-5 below.

We like coves because they are close to the water. Also, they are more private. With the other balconies you can have neighbors out and all around you. With coves you have one or two “neighbors” one on each side. We also like that the coves are on deck 2. It’s quick up to the atrium or to the dining room or off the gangway.

On the Mardi Gras, the coves are on deck 5.  You are higher to the ocean, but the parameters are the same as on the Vista Class.  There is only 1 deck of passenger cabins below on deck 4 and the 3 level atrium is located on decks 6-7-8.  The dining rooms are on 6 & 7 and pay options on 6-7-8.

Exactly. I had to really examine the MG deck plan because the deck above is soo different. We normal try to get a cove under guest services or shore excursions. That’s not there on MG.

we got a better rate on two connecting spa rooms so we took in on MG instead of one room in harbor. never had spa rooms before.

I love the cove balconies on the Dream class.  Under the mid-ship dining room close to the mid-ship elevators is my favorite location.

 

The balcony is more private than regular balconies and so close to the water.  They feel more protected from the wind and are definitely more protected from the sun.

The cabins themselves are identical to the regular cabins. Only difference is the spa amenities you'll receive.

On the Dream class the 6S spa ocean view cabins are huge. But other than that, no difference.

I like the location of the spa cabins.  Speaking to the Dream class again, there's a private elevator to the Serenity Deck.  I think the Thalassotherapy pool is worth the price difference.

 

An additional bonus is they are quiet.  Few children up there.

Ditto BMAS. We love the cove balconies too. And Megan was spot on as well. We really appreciated that in our c.b. that the lifeboats were directly overhead which blocked the sunlight, which gave us all day enjoyment of our balcony without baking in the sun.  Here's a few pics I took of our balcony on The Dream in July, 2018:

I think spa cabins the best on dream class, because of the T pool. The salts or whatever they are they put into the water.

 

That's the only class I'd want a spa cabin.

The RU9 offer showed up for me - I haven't checked in a few days, so no idea when it popped up.

 

I have no idea if we'll take advantage of it (or if it is even worth it) - we had other plans penciled in for late 2021, but we may scuttle them and just take a cruise.  So that will take some more thought that a knee-jerk "book it anyway" like we often do.

 

Maybe I'll do a few mock bookings and see.

And just did a mock booking - the "Free" Cheers offer is $250 pp more than the usual Early Saver or Fun Saver rates for a 7 day Western Carib cruise I selected.  Since Cheers is about $61 pp per day (with auto grat), that means I would save about $180 pp.  Nothing to sneeze at, but nothing to make me jump at the offer with haste.

$250 more or $36pp per day is not worth it.

$140pp or $20 pp per day for 7 nights should be the upper limit, acc. to me.

The short booze cruises are just $5 pp per day extra!

Well, it's worth it in the sense that I would buy Cheers anyway, so I would "save money", but with my wife's and my personal and work schedules the way they are it doesn't compel us to book an extra trip, or at least not the 7-day I scoped out.  Maybe if I have some time I'll look at a shorter weekend-getaway type cruise.

My offer is RU3 which says "free cheers for you", so if it doesn't apply to hubs it isn't worth the additional $250 that the cabin would be. Especially since we're currently booked under a casino rate which has DOU for both + casino $$, and we have the $600 OBC because it's a rebooked cruise.

I had no idea it would apply to our New Years MG cruise but it did. again, if the TA could not apply it was not a big deal. but it was bonus. I just want to cruise.

Just another follow-up - I did another mock booking for a weekend getaway 4-day.  Cost difference was $200 pp more for the "free" drink package for an OV room.  Um, no thanks.  Their math is weird if they think this is going to lure me in.

That's the only class I'd want a spa cabin.

I think you would enjoy a spa cabin on Splendor since it has a thalassotherapy pool too, although I prefer the Dream class setup better since the t-pool is adjacent to the thermal suite.
