Sojourn - Gibraltar destination

Just curious if anyone has any clue as to why the Sojourn is showing Gibraltar as a destination on the cruise map site. Curious as to what is going on if anyone has a clue, share - if you are able to do so...........

As of sometime tomorrow, we will have been home from our last Seabourn cruise for ONE year and we are so ready to go. However, we do know it'll be a while and just hoping is a shorter while than a longer while.

Looks like Seabourn is currently repositioning Sojourn from The Caribbean to the Mediterranean, which makes sense given that’s where currently her first sailing is scheduled for.

Maybe she's going to go hang out with her sisters off Cyprus.

We had a call yesterday from a crewmember onboard the Sojourn.  I almost didn't answer the call because Caller ID read: Harris Corp 321-953-9500.  The crewmember explained that Harris is the satellite phone provider.  The crewmember was reaching out to Seabourn cruisers whose voyages had been cancelled to let them know that the company and its staff were thinking about them.  He offered to rebook our cancelled cruise on the Quest with a similar itinerary in 2022.  I thanked him and said that once we receive our Covid vaccine shots we will start thinking about future cruises.  I certainly didn't expect a call like this and felt it was a nice gesture.  Our Seabourn consultant in Seattle has also done a good job keeping in touch with us.

This sounded so suspicious to us that we called Seabourn before responding.  Seabourn in Seattle said they have never heard of crew members making calls about future cruises.  The only such calls have been made by the on-board future cruise consultants, who are currently not on board.

It would be interesting to find out how the phishers from Harris got your information.

Seabourn (along with Holland America and Carnival) were hacked last August, and in October they announced that passenger personal information was stolen.  Here’s a clip from one of the articles:

"That information may include names, addresses, phone numbers, passport numbers, and dates of birth. The investigation into the specific data impacted is ongoing, but in some limited instances, we anticipate additional information impacted may include data such as Social Security numbers, health information, or other personal information," Carnival said.“

@RichNBets Thanks for posting this. As pointed out above, be aware of the data breach the Holland and Seabourn offices had in August 2020. I have been in contact via the hotline to confirm we (ourselves) are not on the list of potentially affected clients, but am still watching. The investigators let me know this was a very sophisticated attack. The culprits may not have detail info but they might well have enough to convince people they represent Seabourn.

When the call came in we were headed out for a walk.  The caller wanted us to rebook, but all I indicated was that we weren't ready to do that.  The premise of reaching out to customers sounded legit, but I'm glad I got off the call fairly quickly.

We can confirm that a small group of Cruise Sales Specialists are currently on Seabourn Sojourn making calls to guests with Future Cruise Credits. A Seabourn Moment that lets you know we're thinking of you and hope to see you again in the future.

Thank you for clarifying this.  I felt the call was legitimate and I appreciated the good wishes.  We now have appointments in a few weeks for our first vaccine shots and look forward to resuming travel later this year.

Jeni, or anyone else, any idea what an "~Official Verified Account" is?

It means the account was vetted by Cruise Critic as authorized to speak for the cruise line.

Hello All:

When you see "Official Verified Account" it means that Cruise Critic (meaning me personally in this instance) guarantees that this account is being used by an employee who is authorized to speak on behalf of the cruise line.

We assisted in the creation of the account by providing detailed steps to a high-level Public Relations employee and their team.

I will share they were very anxious to share this information with the Cruise Critic community.

If you have any questions going forward regarding the validity of this (or any other Official account) please write to me at:  community@cruisecritic.com

Thanks LauraS for the clarification and putting inquiring minds to rest.

IMHO it is an odd way to introduce oneself to a community, I agree with Jenidallas the premise of ship to shore marketing is a tad farfetched.

The SeaDream board have a company representative who follows their board and chimes in very helpfully from time to time. Hopefully Seabourn representative(s) can avail they/his/her self of this communication tool a little more to clarify questions that come up.

Thanks for clarifying that Cruise Critic is taking responsibility for ensuring that they are not assisting in the perpetuating of fraud. I have no doubt that the forum understands the legal liability of giving official voice to someone impersonating an official spokesperson so will let them assume that mantle.

Given the data breach and all of the matters where Seabourn could have been front and center with positive PR, I’m certainly disappointed that they chose this as the way to make their grand entrance on Cruise Critic.  I have always leaned toward being a Seabourn cheerleader, but still find it highly bizarre and will be withholding my trust until I see other interaction from their social media rep. I certainly won’t be giving out my personal information to rebook based on a call that I did not initiate.
