Anyone still booking cruises, or have we all given up?

Recommended Posts

We are booking new cruises as each one gets cancelled.  It is easier for us since most of the cruises we book are mainly Casino funded.  So the $ at risk is usually minimal with 3 of us travelling. Our last cruises were Feb'20 on Zuiderdam and Jan'20 on Grandeur. Cancelled since then are 10 on Royal, 1 on HAL.  Currently booked 7 between May'21 and Feb'22.

When they canceled our July 4 Cruise we chose not to rebook.

That's probably what we are going to do when our cruise to Europe comes along in September............not going to chance going overseas fo quite sometime.

We have 2 booked....one for October and another for January 2022...I fully expect that the October cruise will be cancelled by Oceania (14 days and Canada) and that the Royal Caribbean will end up being cancelled by us...Why...because we will refuse to go on a cruise if a mask is required...that would be a "no go" for us....Quite disappointed as we are really missing our cruising...

We each have 2 FCC's.  So we have booked 2 cruises. One late 2021, one early 2022. I'm not going to lose the money. We booked them before the FCC dates were extended, but they are satisfactory cruises (not a great price, not a bad price) with domestic departures, so we will keep them.

I’m finished booking cruises for the foreseeable future.  I miss cruises for sure but what am I going to do?  Canceling more future cruises that probably will never happen as advertised isn’t the answer for me.  I’ve only book refundable cruises in the past, otherwise I’d be stuck with 3 FCC’s and no guarantee they’ll ever sail.  When they are up and running again, maybe I’ll book another.  I’m a little concerned about the quality of service after the reboot so I’m in full wait and see mode.

Just casino funded cruises. Had 4 canceled in last year and have 5 reserved through January 2022. Some of them have to sail. I hope, but whenever I get an offer I book it. Even if I can't make one of them I will not be out that much money, only taxes. Its worth the gamble.

I booked for Harmony of Seas for May. It sails from Barcelona which we can drive to but if that gets cancelled I won't be rushing to book another but that is mainly because I already have some booked for Sept and Dec 2021 plus Apr and Oct 2022

Just booked a cruise for December 2021...chasing double points as this will make us Diamond Plus.  Short, five day cruise on Radiance visiting Key West and Labadee - figure that if cruises are going, these ports should be open.

Cheers,

After five cruise cancellations between May 2020 - Nov 2021, I've decided to hold off booking anything else until there is a clearer picture of what the cruising future will look like.  I'm sure many have had more cancellations than me. Is anyone still making reservations?

Still have a few more to get cancelled on us.  Considering waiting until they sail again before we 'reschedule', as we're starting to wonder who will be in business and what the experience will look like.

We had a family cruise scheduled for last April.  It was canceled and, fortunately, I was able to get back all money that had been spent for both cruise and air.  We also had a cruise booked for Azamara in S. Africa for next month.  When everything fell apart last April, I decided to cancel on  my own and lost the deposit (their policy).  We had planned to rebook that cruise for Feb, 2022, BUT Azamara has now been sold and who knows what may happen by then.    I am currently just looking at spending the money on a long, leisurely S. Africa trip for next February, IF things are okay by then.   That is something I can book with a S Africa travel/tour company.

Thinking the same thing as I read that.  The Key Westers are trying to deter the cruise ships.

I know the area won't allow the larger ships and has limited hours when they can visit (sunset...) but didn't know there was new concerns.  Is it COVID related, or bigger than that?

Thanks

What cruises were cancelled for Nov of this year?  I didn't think anyone was that far out.

The locals (apparently most of them by the vote they had) voted last November  to ban the larger cruise ships.  Smaller ones still welcome, but limiting also the numbers that can disembark and come into the town.
