But, But Trudeau is such a great Socialist. I’d expect the world class universal Canadian health care system to have everyone vaccinated within a few months. Your health care system is what many US citizens aspire to here.

Surely, you jest! 😂

I do not think most of us in the U.S. want the Canadian health system.  Not anyplace near world class.

Ok, I now feel bad about the posts I made last week. I didn't want to say anything about it yet as I might jinx it, but last Thurs late afternoon I got a call from our local health dept. Since we had signed up on the list for vaccinations they were calling to schedule our appointment. So, this morning we got our first shot of the Moderna. In 28 days we'll get the second. So we'll be ready in about 6 weeks or so, I doubt the cruise lines are. I take back whatever mean I said. LOL

Good for you.  I'm glad you got the first shot.

My DH is going to get his 1st on Friday.  You get an email and at 10 am on Tuesday's you have to type as fast as you can before the time slot fills. It was filled in 9 minutes.  Our problem in our ski town is that we are barely getting any vaccines. 1100 first week, 200 last week, and 100 this week. I was upset because my neighbor who is a 2nd homeowner was able to sneak into the 1st group and is getting her 2nd shot this week. Her home is in Ohio!

Me, I have to wait a bit and with the difficulty getting vaccines, who knows when I will get my email 😞

I guess age before beauty applies here too. HA!

We should be getting our 2nd shot in 2 weeks. Like you, I am worried about jinxing it and surely hope they’ll have enough vaccines for our 2nd dose.

ORV;

I believe as you and Truly Blonde point out, the dilemma in this is the constant pace of change. More vaccines are being released one week, while manufacturing and distribution slips the next, more and more efficient vaccination facilities are being opened, etc. Any comments anyone made this week is likely to change come next week. People here are now getting the Pfizer vaccine. A few weeks back, it was only the Moderna. If we’re getting more people vaccinated, that’s a good thing. The anxiety some feel and show isn’t.

As of today 2/3/21, I probably can’t get my first shot until April. That could change at any time.

I believe this change of pace will effect everything. I don’t get excited over what the CDC published on Monday, because I expect it to change radically in a month or so to something else. Then change again by summer. As one of the cruise lines told my TA, “ we’re not chasing our tails trying to react to every decree put out by the Agencies. When we think it’s time to restart, we’ll worry about what’s in effect then.”

Congrats on getting your first shot braggart! 🥂

Got our second today of the Pfizer jab.

Very well organized at Fairgrounds.  They had an appointment system setup but had to abandon it when many people who had not gotten dose 1 signed up for dose 2.

They checked ID's (in state only) and your COVID card showing you had your 1st dose 21 days ago.

11 lanes 2 cars per most cars had 2 or more so it was an excellent production line. Pull out go to parking lot for 15 minute no reaction check.  Then home.

Only problem for the care givers it was 37 degrees this morning... burrr...

Our county spent the 15K needed for the special refrigeration needed for Pfizer.

Florida is doing a great job. My daughter told me that most of her clients in Palm Beach county have been vaccinated. I own an investment property in Jupiter and I guess I could always fly there and get it but my luck would be I would get the Covid during travel.

I will wait here and do my daily snow hike. I typically ski 80 plus days a year and this year am scared I will catch it in the lift line. Zero ski days for me so far. 😞

We got our second jab of Moderna yesterday.  May have to consider one of these 2 lines for the near future.

Makes sense  since they mostly operate in the USA

Maybe another story  when they do the Canadian ports  though

We've both had our first Astra Zeneca jab, in recent days, with the second jab scheduled for mid April. Should mean we're as good as it's going to get by early May. Still need lots more people round the world to have been vaccinated before it will really feel safe. Hopefully that will be by summer next year, when we hope to celebrate a major event with an Oceania cruise.

Precisely.

By the end of this year we will have a good idea as to how much of 2022 will be needed to get high levels of vaccinations into all countries around the world.

We all need a high level of global vaccination to help control new variants, and to work out how regular boosters, if required, need to be adapted.

I happened to get lucky and had the first jab of Modern vaccine yesterday, Feb.3. I already have the appointment for the second jab March 3. My husband gets his second jab of the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow. A local hospital sent an email out to members of the YMCA over 65 who live in the city with 200 doses available for one day only. I jumped on the email and made an appointment within 2 minutes. I was actually in Costa Rica when I made the appointment.

After reading an article in the WSJ about vaccine rollout in Europe, how bungled and delayed it is, I highly doubt there will be any cruises there in 2021. European vaccine approval and distribution is running over 10 weeks behind the US. The only country that has started is the UK.

I can see the changes happening over the coming months.

From....

Lockdown....when is it going to end ?

to

Vaccines....when will they be approved ?

to

Vaccinations....when will they start ?

to

Vaccinations....when will I get mine ?

to

I'm vaccinated....why are we not cruising ?

Getting our second Moderna shot tomorrow - confirmed. We have a significant marriage event June 15th and we hold a reservation on Riviera for that time. Come on O, make it happen!

I do not think Oceania  has any control over the situation 😷

For those that wonder why we can’t do better on controlling COVID take a look at this:

https://apple.news/AkJB57ZV7TvKLT4z4rFh38A

It’s truly beyond belief or any hope.

I would never wish anything ill to people like the store owner but under the current continued spread of the pandemic I do wish the owner would get positive and spend a few weeks on a respirator in an ICU

He might change his mind about COVID - or maybe not.

Watched this on the news yesterday for about 20 seconds and just had to immediately turned TV off and do something else. I'm just so burned out on stupidity...
