SAGA announces mandatory vacancies

I had to google what SAGA was and even then there's no SAGA cruise line on any of the first few pages of results on 2 different search engines. I don't think we can take what one niche cruise line is doing and apply to other more family friendly cruise lines, yet.

Impossible.

When I google “saga cruises” every single link on the first page refers to Saga Cruises and also to this story regarding vaccinations.

I am neither old nor ill enough to have been vaccinated yet so don't know what, if anything has been given to the patients after their jab

After you get the shot you get a little card with the name of the vaccine and date of the first injection and the date of the upcoming second injection written on it. My father has he though they did not complete it again when he had the second jab.

Thank you - that's good to know.

Was that Google.com or Google.co.uk?

This is the card I received today. I’m wondering if everyone is getting something similar? On the back, is when my 2nd dose is due.

Very much like mine from Brevard County Health Dept. in Florida.

I went through a drive thru, so I’m wondering if they just didn’t want to hold up the flow of traffic and appt. times, by filling them all out.

Same with mine.  The cards were already printed with the second appointment and first vaccine information.  I just had to write my name in.

Seems to leave room for duplication and forgery.  Sad that some will do that to endanger others...very selfish.

Liability issues aside, what if the cruise line gave you a shot of the Johnson and Johnson 1 shot vaccine before you boarded the ship.  Check in, get your shot, wait 30 minutes and then board.

Takes two weeks for the vaccine to actually take full affect.  Kind of rules that out.

Everyone does not need to be vaccinated...only those that want to cruise.  I can absolutely see the cruise lines requiring this especially for the next year to two until global cases in the general population drop to a small amount due to herd immunity.

they will have enough people who will get the vaccine to allow them to sail.  Remember, they won’t be sailing at full capacity for a while anyway.

Totally agree.  And makes me feel safer for them to take that stance.

The irony around the concept of requiring vaccines to do something is the fact proof of vaccine is a simple paper form that can very easily be fabricated.

I have already ordered mine from Amazon.  It was easier than trying to get the shot😇

That's great.  your state is doing a lot better than Florida it sounds like they're moving right along.  At the rate we're going down hiit be 6 months before the seniors all get vaccinated. Should add guess we have a lot of us seniors down here

Hopefully will speed up the process, now that the allocated vaccines that were shipped in (that were sent according to resident population)...actually go to the residents.

I’m glad I got started. I need to travel out of state to care for my elderly mother. She can’t get a vaccine appointment in her state so I’m waiting till two weeks after my second shot  so I run no risk (or reduce as much as possible ) of infecting her. I haven’t been able to see her since March of last year.

Good luck.  My sister in NY was just told that it might not be until April for my 90 year old mother to get one.  Sad

Um, computer says no. As I have previously stated when I search "SAGA" no cruise line comes up for the first few pages. If you google "saga cruises" sure. So no, not impossible.

I could say exactly the same thing when I google something as vague as “royal”...... RCG doesn’t appear at all.....  I get Royal Mail, Royal family, Royal bank of Canada, and even the Royal Credit Union of Wisconsin......another niche cruise line according to your criteria?! 🤷‍♀️

Just on the off hand that they don't, will you still cruise?

Yes...I have already received my first shot...second shot will be well before any cruise I have scheduled.  I will go with some degree of protection, and will still follow health guidelines.

Covid is dangerous and deadly.  No one should take it lightly and then board a ship.

Jackson Health vaccination site in Miami is now requiring some type of proof to show U.S. residency. It is to deter “vaccination tourism” for people from other countries.

You're not comparing equal terms. It is not Royal Cruises or Royal Cruise lines but rather Royal Caribbean Cruise lines (former name  and since Royal Caribbean Int.). Google Royal Caribbean, or Carnival, or Norwegian, or Celebrity, or Costa, or Princess, I could go on and on.......first results are for the Cruise lines. SAGA on it's own......nada. Details matter.

It's about time...better late than never.  Guess they did not expect having to host those that took unfair advantage.

Well there you go, if you have the shot why are you even worried about if other people get it or not?

Covid is dangerous and deadly in some people yes, mostly in certain demographics. No one is boarding any ships any time soon so there's still much time for things to play out.

I still can't see any major Cruiselines not allowing kids or people with severe allergies to cruise. If I'm wrong I'm wrong but it's still a long long way away anyway.

My parents are friends with a few Canadian Snowbirds who have already received their second doses in Southern Florida.

I think the Governor was shocked when he found out what was actually happening. And people were posting photos on Instagram thanking the US for allowing them to get vaccinated!
