Time to receive a refund?

Recommended Posts

Hey all- we booked on a casino comp cruise and then had to lift and shift to a year out. Because we had paid an upgrade to buy "the perks" prior to the line going all inclusive, the rep said we would be due the difference between the two cruises. Its been about 6 weeks and we haven't seen a refund come through on the credit card yet. About how long are celebrity refunds taking nowadays? I know at one point it was months so I don't want to be impatient, but I don't want to lose several hundred dollars either! TIA

We received refunds of  the deposit for 2 cruises we cancelled in November  and that refund was back on our credit card in less than 1 week.  You may want to call and check.

My TA called Celebrity for me to get a deposit refund for a canceled cruise a few weeks ago.  They said fine but expect it to take 60 days.  We are talking about a $50 deposit so I am not chasing it but last summer when it was a $5,000 refund on a canceled cruise I was ready to file a dispute on day 61....but the money did show up that week.  So figure 60 days and then dispute the charge.

We were canceled in the last round and had our refunds in our accounts about 2 weeks ago, so I would definitely follow up.   They also told us 60 days but we were refunded in about a week.    Mind you, it did take another week for the backdated refund to show in our account.

Blueskadoo when you rebooked your comp for a year later did you get the perks included or do you still have to upgrade to them?

We did not have to pay to upgrade them on the newest cruise, they gave them to us as inclusions like if it was a brand new booking with the new rules. That was the only reason we were due a refund as we still had to pay for the port taxes like with any other line, so it was the difference between the perks upgrades and the port taxes/fees.

Celebrity took around 5 weeks to refund our deposit when Equinox cruises were all cancelled for Spring 2022. However, 2 other cruises booked with Royal were both refunded in around 10 days. Strange when you think they are all part of the same group.

Thank you for the reply.  We have not been so fortunate.  Each one that we have moved with Blue Chip they tell us no drink package or all included.

I should have mentioned this one is for MLife status from MGM land based casinos. We have only been able to move/exchange casino cruises handled by a third party.

As far as refunds...we have about 7 comps that we are moving around.  We have not gotten any refunds other than taxes that have to be paid with each move.  We have gotten those back in a matter of days up to many weeks.  Difficult to estimate refund times.  But I must add that Celebrity has been very good to refund the exact amounts without problem.
