Yes, I think I said before Rhodes is one of the places we were looking to get to, last/this year

having watched this a cruise visit isnt going to be enough. We are now following it

Ancient asia civilisations , serengeti ,teotihuacan's lost kings. Dont know how

we are going to get anything done!!

We have visited by ship and also stayed at a hotel by the beach and walked into Rhodes town every day. Walked inside, outside, outside between the walls and around on the top of the walls. So much to see.

Took the Coastal Tram from Zeebrugge to the seaside town of De Haan. For an alternative to Bruges the Coastal Tram is worth investigating.

More lovely photographs of Holland and Belgium which conjure up happy memories of times spent there in the early 70s when we were newly married and before children!.

I'm staying on board for the next few days as we head across the Channel to start our 'Round the British Isles' leg of this epic voyage. Tomorrow we head to Dover and then up the East coast to places like Tilbury, Felixstowe, Hull , Newcastle. Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness and the Orkney and Shetland Isles.....tasters for the new 'Staycation' cruises.

Spent a week in Bruges with a friend in 1983 - my first holiday as a grown up.

A pre-digital photo from that holiday.

Next visit was 30 years later in 2013. I could then afford to eat in the fancy tea rooms!

I will have to leave the cruise now as we have not been on any 'round Britain' cruises. We have been to Ireland though so may nip back if you visit there.

Thank you Gettingwarmer for starting this and Izzy for keeping it going, I've thoroughly enjoyed participating and have enjoyed seeing all the photos.

Ha ha - I have some pictures of Zebrugge stayed in Bruge on

a land tour many moons ago so had to see what Zeebrugge

had to offer.
Answer - not a lot- though plenty of beach. There is now even

less as the Submarine has been scrapped.
Thank you bee-ess for contributing to this, your pictures have

been wonderful.
We have not really cruised the uk either nor have we visited much

by land. Often find on cruises Americans have been to more

places in uk than we have. Will look in at the pics though no chance

of us doing a seacation.

Still the show that evening was very good.

Our last visit to Bruges 2017. We decided to do the Bruges on Your Own trip. It seemed a long walk from the coach drop of point to the centre and most of that in the rain.

We reach home territory today as we begin the last leg of our journey around the world with easterly ports in Britain. Tomorrow we continue our circumnavigation by visiting Greenock, Belfast, Dublin and Cobh.

We have sailed out of Dover in 2006 as we headed to the Baltic and ended a cruise from South Africa in Dover in 2015 but I don't have many pictures.

My pictures of Edinburgh are from a weekend visit in 1998 which was a wonderful surprise organised by my DH for my 50th birthday...

My last pictures for this part of the cruise are from a land tour of Scotland in 2005 when we passed through Inverness and stopped at Loch Ness. I'm hoping some of you have pictures of the Orkneys and Shetland Islands as these are also on our 'to do' list.....

If you cruise from Tilbury you are likely to stay overnight in London and take the train down on the day. Likewise you would normally take an excursion to London midtrip. But if you want a few hours off ship then you can walk down the river to the Worlds End pub, next door is Tilbury fort where Elizabeth I made her speech to her troops before they attacked the Spanish Armada. "I know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman but I have the heart and stomach of a king..."

Alternative at Tilbury take the ferry next door to the terminal to Gravesend and visit the grave of Pocohontas.

It was so interesting to see th pictures of Tilbury, Edinburgh, Loch Ness and the Orkneys and Shetlands. I think that sometimes we don't appreciate the variety of our own country.

Tomorrow is our last cruise day of this Epic Voyage Around the World as we sail back across the Irish Sea to the west coast of mainland Britain with the ports of Liverpool, Holyhead, Bristol, Fowey and Portland.

We haven't been to Greenock or Belfast so I';m looking forward to seen photos of those areas. We were in Dublin and Cobh following a Transatlantic crossing in 2018.
