Our day in Cadiz started with a journey on the number 1 bus from Avenida del Puerto to Residencia then a short walk to Playa de la Victoria which we think is far nicer than the beach nearer the port (La Caleta). We then had a very pleasant couple of hours on the beach before making our way to La Marea restaurant https://www.lamarea.es/

We went to Cadiz on the Britannia maiden in 2015. We were due to go there next month, which I had been looking forward to, as Cadiz is lovely.

We must be leaving Cadiz early to make it to Barcelona tomorrow? 😉

Yes, not waiting for any of you late arrivals running down the dockside.

In reality I forget Barcelona was so far up the coast of Spain.

Quite right too, we’ve a tight schedule to maintain.

Thanks to you for a great thread & to everyone for their brilliant photos. I’m expecting lots of variety for another great port tomorrow.

Barcelona  -luckily as far as this thread is concerned we have only been once so I have been able to narrow pics down to 23.  Will see what appears over the horizon when we get there tomorrow and should be able to discard some. Churros, chocolate & coffee  3Cs for breakfast!!

Need it for that hike to Las Ramblas.  I know there is the blue bus but I think the breakfast should be called Calories ,Calories & Calories so we NEED to do the walk.

I don't have many Barcelona photos to choose from, we have only ever been there as an embark/disembark port for flight cruises, never for a port day. So, these are just a few from a taxi tour  we did on the way to the airport in 2009.

Thought there would be more - guess you got to the churros and

called it a day.   I have wielded the axe and cut it down to JUST! 20.

Cheated and stitched the 3 Picassos. 😉P1070108.thumb.JPG.44986f013a9f2570f541d14955abac3b.JPG

These are lovely pictures.

I’ve never rated Barcelona very much - obviously I haven’t been looking in the right places 🙄. I always think it’s very crowded.

We tend to walk along the boardwalk & find a nice fishy lunch somewhere.

The shuttle bus is a bit of a pain - imo.  We once walked over that high loopy bridge - eek!  We weren’t the only ones - lots of cruisers on other lines, locals I suppose, coming in the opposite direction wheeling their suitcases.  Imagine shelling out for a cruise & not even getting the cheap public bus to the port

Our favourite cruise line Azamara docks at the World Trade Centre, an easy walk to Las Ramblas and close to the Hop on/off bus

I seem to recall it being about 3 euro. My mind always boggle's when our American friends who spend thousands on their cruise/flights/hotels discuss at great length how to smuggle a couple of bottles of booze onboard. They purchase Rum Runners to fool the x-ray machines.

I have to agree with you Eddie, it's our least favourite port. We've done all the usual tours to the interesting places and when a cruise goes into Barcelona now, we stay aboard and take advantage of the space. I have to say that the Gaudi tours were amazing.

Our first trip to Barcelona we did the Gaudi tour, and you're so right - amazing.  Next visit we did Parc Guell on our own.  Very easy though and we even had time to have a couple of drinks at the market by Las Ramblas.  And Parc Guell was still free then!  A good value day out.  Didn't bother with Parc Guell last year when we were on Oceana, saved €8 each.  Wandered about the Gothic quarter which we'd never done before and found very interesting.
