Good morning all!

Belle, thanks for starting us. The average is Dallas isn't usually this cold, but we get a few days here and there like this.

Diana, keep on shrinking! Who cares what the scale says when the pant size is dropping!

Jan, .6 down is good. I found it this week.

I'm up .6#, but we've had more salty foods this week. I bought some blue cheese stuffed olives, and I've been having a couple every night with some cheese to close my window (other salty foods too).

It rained a little last night, and some of the roads are icy. DH made it into the office OK this morning. It's going to get up to about 35 today, and I'm making a grocery store run when it does. It's supposed to stay below freezing with wintery mix or snow from tonight to Wednesday when it jumps back up to normal (the 40's). I'm sure everyone else will be at the store too, so I may double mask.  We're getting our meal delivery today as well, so we should be set until we thaw out next week.

Thanks for starting us off, Belle.   I wish I had the willpower to avoid chocolate if I had it.   I tell my DH not to buy me any candy and then I don't have to worry about it.

Congrats, Jan.

mel, salty foods will do it to us every time.

Diana, congrats on no gain.

I am down .8.   It snowed again here last night.   We are expecting more snow this weekend and possibly another storm after that one.   The roads were very icy here this morning.

I had my second dose of the vaccine yesterday.   So far, I am feeling fine.   I hope to stay that way.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.

HI al!

Belle ~ thanks for starting the thread. I'll have to remember not to buy any chocolate or chips, for that matter, as if it's here I'll eat some.😉

I too, am down a little, 0.4 lbs, so back in the very high 160's.

Rose ~ great you had the vaccine! I'm still wondering when we'll get it up here.

Somebody asked last week about the snow up here & yes we got some but not too much, maybe 6 or so inches. It still looks lovely out back, so white & clean looking. Over at the point we see, the ice is piled up & it's a lovely blue, almost like Alaska!

Have a nice day & stay safe.

~ Jo ~ 😊

Belle thanks for bringing us all together.

overall the numbers are stable.  I’ll join  Jan, Rose and Jo with a loss of  O.6 .   Diana and  Mel  still doing a good job.

Houston area bracing for a hard freeze. Expected to be in the teens by Monday.   I’ve been in Corpus Christi  then Houston since 1981 don’t remember it ever getting into the  teens.  (I’m prepared will just put on ski clothes)

My travel advisor (TA)  is having her boss speak to cruise lines about accepting my cruise vouchers for 2022.   Terms last year were vouchers had to be used by 12/31/2021.   I can’t guarantee when my son and granddaughter  will get vaccinated.   I’m thinking positive.

Izena, good idea to get your FCC extended. Princess PVP just extended my grandkids FCC to 9/1/22 and my GOODWILL OBC to book by 10/1/22 so fingers crossed for yours!!

Mel, I did cancel October but asked her to keep in mind that I'll sail solo if ship goes. I doubt the girls will be vaccinated by then. I'm keeping their April cruise as it's the week before Easter so the ship should have plenty of kids.  And this is why their parents don't tell them this early

I like the snow but then I don't live in it like Jo & Rose. Not as close as Diana but not that far (not sure if you get it, Belle)

Jan, Rose, Jo, and Izena are ALL down with O.6 !! 🤗 Common denominator. Not me .... I'm about the same.

I'm thinking of just going into Oakland or SF for NY (Chinese New Year). Usually we would have parades, red envelopes everywhere. And then head into the other part of my family's holiday (Purim). Hard to believe it's been almost a year. I'm anticipating no Passover or Easter either this year.

Nice to see everyone checking in.

Jan, Jo, Rose, at least you guys lost something.

Mel, sorry you gained but it's minimal. Thanks for the kudos on the inches lost. I think it might have to do with cutting down on fat.

Yum on the blue cheese stuffed olives...right up my alley. I love blue cheese. Last week I treated myself to a container of gorgonzola crumbles. I have it a little at a time like last night we had salad so had 2 tbsp.'s on my salad.

We are also double-masking in stores.

Hope you and Izena stay warm.

Izena, I think a few of the cruiselines have already extended the FCC's. It is certainly a gesture that seems more necessary.

Rose, glad you're feeling ok after the 2nd shot. Yeah!

Ombud, stay-the-same better than a gain. Bummer you cancelled your October cruise. Have fun for Chinese New Year.

My hubby and I used to go to SF for the Chinese New Year parade. Not sure what it will be like this year? I remember crowds in the streets...hoards of people shoulder to shoulder, everyone on top of each other.....

Belle, how are you? Maybe your kids will visit this weekend?

Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day.

Diana

Hello Everyone

Good to see you all this morning and doing good.

I'm the only one who didn't do good. My fault, the day before weigh-in

you shouldn't have Mexican take out with your daughter. Gained a pound.

Came on fast, hope it goes off fast.

Son coming over Sat. and will have take out again (don't know what yet)

so I have to really be good and get the pound off before this take out.

It's my fault I eat the food but really enjoy my time with my "kids". Since

don't get to see them that much. Wear our masks except when eating.

Staying healthy but will be happy when I can give them hugs and see them more.

Like all of you with your family.

No one talks at night?  I now you all have a life. Most have a husband at home.

Just me and bored. Did some more shredding today, now could of hired it out

but what else do I have to do---besides eat, pay monthly bills and dream of Cruises

In fact a year ago today I was on the cruise to Mexico and Hawaii enjoying myself.

What A Difference A Year Makes!

Everyone be careful out there with all the different kinds of bad weather. Stay safe.

Belle,  Mexican food will definitely do that.   But, it's so yummy, hard to resist.   I'm sure its mostly water weight and will come off fast.   DH and I rarely get any kind of takeout and I really miss it.

Looking at another snowstorm heading our way.   I am hoping it turns out to be nothing much.   I am tired of winter already and staring at all this snow.   It's not even pretty  like Jo's backyard.   It dirty and icy.  Oh well, it's February in New York, so it's to be expected.

Belle you are not alone.   I live alone have two sons  neither are great communicators.  I’m very independent and have a great network of single friends —-all from dog park.   My sons know if anything happens they will be notified.

Decided to wrap my water pipes in preparation of the freeze.  For grins I tried on two winter jackets that  I last wore 20 -25 years ago.   BOTH  fit I can even zip them.  Talk about the disparity of sizing one is a small (snug around the hips)  the other is a large.

Belle, I think I saw somewhere that you also sail Princess. I just tried to add the new promo to my existing 3 cruises that I don't have paid off with FCC (once that happens I don't watch anymore). Worked on 1 --- $200 less but no chocolates. Working on the other, $500 less + chocolates. Offer good until 2/16 so really short term. This isn't per room / I'm usually a solo. And I don't need the Godiva chocolates.

Izena, dog parks are wonderful except getting a little to crowded for me. I don't care how many dogs are there's but I'm uncomfortable when it's over 10 people.

Rose, It's raining. I shouldn't complain. We need it.

Diana, the Year of the Ox Celebration will be on KTVU. I'm asking S to send me pictures of the float at Pier 29 & ox statues around the city. I'm just not comfortable going out to what could be a crowded area

Belle, I'm sure the weight will come off quickly. The takeout was probably salty too. Good you got some shredding done.

Rose, hope the storm is not too bad.

Last night we had a storm roll through. It rained not just buckets but walls of water. We were really surprised. Sunny today though so nice to geta break before more rain tomorrow.

Izena, awesome you fit into those jackets. Sizes are crazy sometimes.

Ombud, glad you will stay home and watch on tv. Too risky an environment......

Have a nice day, Diana

Belle, Mexican food is one of my down falls. Our favorite place closed due to Covid - it's sad to see the for sale sign out front. It's been easier to not have it though now that we have to go farther to get good TexMex. Glad you are getting to see your kids.

Izena - Great on the jackets! I'm close to the weight I was on our first cruise, but I'm not quite ready to try on those formal night dresses. We've got our pipes covered too. We're supposed to get down to -2 one night, and now we won't get above freezing until Friday. We had some flakes today, but the big stuff comes Sunday and Monday (6-12"!), and now they're saying we're supposed to get a second snow storm Wednesday and Thursday!

Diana - I don't think I could ever give up cheese. We have blocks of gouda, havarti dill, cheddar, and a colby pepperjack that we snack on at night. I'm sure I would lose faster if I cut that out, but cheese is my favorite food group!

Ombud - I would love to see some of the photos S sends you - we can vacation vicariously through your posts!

Rose and Jo - I hope you don't get too much snow!

DH got an email after he got home that someone he's been in relatively close contact with at work has tested positive. DH was in a conference room with him (in opposite corners 20ish feet apart) for about 2 hours once this week and sat across a table from him for 15-20 minutes at a separate meeting. Both were masked, and DH has actually been wearing 2 masks to meetings. We think it's a pretty low risk, but he's quarantining in the front of our house for now - our guest room, guest bath, and office are all right around the front door, so that's his side of the house for a few days. He's got a tv, laptop and phone, kindle, shower, and we're trying to figure out how to handle meals. May split time in the kitchen - too bad he's the cook in the family!  Our dining room is also at the front of the house, so he would have a table to eat at while the rest of us eat in the kitchen. He's going to start monitoring his temperature, and we'll keep an eye on the roads to see if he can get out to get a test Monday or Tuesday if he starts showing symptoms.

Hello All hope you have/had a good Fri. and have a good Sat.

Rose--- hope you don't get to much snow. Yes love Mexican food but was kind of

good, didn't eat the chips. Funny thing hardly get takeout and now that's all

I get when seeing the kids.

Izena---I know you and Ombud are alone too. Good thing I think you like me and

Ombud we were pretty independent before so we can be alone. Just think covid

makes it worse not being able to go places (like cruising solo) seeing friends.

Congrats on the coats fitting from 25 years ago. Great job!

Ombud---Yes sail Princess but the ones I have booked now are free cruises from casino.

Only get what casino cash they offer not all the other perks. Glad you got money off on

your cruises. I know as solo's we have to pay double. Least only port tax once. Do you get

what I get...people saying---You mean your sailing alone, I could never do that.

Glad your not going to SF or Oak. To many people better to stay safe. Isn't it on TV?

Diana---Forgot to weigh this morning so don't know if the pound left me. Hope so.

No damage from the rain I hope. More rain Sat. hope it's light for you. Ca needs it.

Mel---Hope your husband will be fine. Double masked was the way to go. Nice he can

be away from you and kids just in case. Stay warm, that's to cold.

I have two food groups that I SHOULD stay away from--Ice Cream and Cheese!

OOOP's forgot the Chocolate food group too!😄

mel, I hope that your DH is going to be fine.   That happened to my older daughter and my son-in-law (daughter #2's husband).  They were exposed at their respective jobs but fortunately because they are careful and are always masked they did not catch the virus.   They had to be tested and they both quarantined just in case.

Possible ice storm headed our way tonight into tomorrow morning.   Then, again Monday night into Tuesday morning.   😳

What's the difference between an ice storm and a snow storm? Sorry if this is a stupid question

It is not a stupid question if you live in an area that never has that kind of weather.   With an ice storm, all the moisture in the air will freeze and settle on the ground as ice instead of snow.   It is seriously dangerous because you can't plow the streets to get rid of it and the streets and sidewalks become a great big skating rink.

Belle, I love those food groups too....

Rose, hope the snow/ice are over soon.

Celebrity put our Aug. 29th, 2021 New England/Canada cruise on hold. Which means, at some point, it will get cancelled because of the Canada restrictions until Feb. 2022.

We called our TA about moving the booking to the same type of cruise, same ship, sailing Aug. 31st, 2022. Hopefully by booking now we can get a similar cabin.

Take care, Diana

Diana, sorry about your NE/CA cruise.

Rose, hope the ice misses your area.

Belle, I used to want ice cream all the time, but that particular craving has diminished a bit in the last few years. When I do want it though, it's always a huge bowl. I can't just have one scoop!

Ombud, we get hail storms with bad rainstorms here in the spring (they come along with tornados here). It's not cold enough then for it to stick, so we just get little marbles of ice that melt really quickly - sometimes before the storm is even over. A few years ago we had a terrible hail storm with softball sized hail. It totaled both our cars and we wound up with 26 giant holes in our roof from it plus a couple broken double pane windows. We wound up with new carpet and a new roof from that storm and since we had just remodeled the kitchen a few months before, we decided that it was time to sell that house - it looked brand new when we got it on the market.  So it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
