Celebrity: Perfect Day At Sea

We are now in the doldrums of winter with no cruising in sight.  I am booked on the Edge and the Equinox for 2022 in the Retreat.  Please tell me what your perfect day at sea would entail.  Be as brief or as detailed as you like--activities, suites, dining, drinking--anything you'd like to recommend for a future cruiser to try...or not.  Stay safe and well.  Before you know it, we'll be back on the high seas!

Sitting in a lounger turned to face the Caribbean waters on the deck above the pool deck soaking up the sun and enjoying my BP as the time slips by. 🍻😎

We take one of the ship tours during the day and specialty restaurant for dinner.   We books specialty restaurant for sea days because we would be too tired to eat after shore days excursions.  Those tours are pretty cool.  When we tour the kitchen, we get to know how many lobsters get to die on lobster night LOL.

Sleep in. Room service breakfast on the balcony. Read and relax on the balcony. Lunch in the MDR. Cultural lecture or movie in the theatre. Nap. Pre dinner cocktails.  Dinner in a specialty restaurant. After dinner drinks while watching the evening entertainment. Night cap while listening to the late night live music.

I thought this was only for Captain’s Club Elite members ( served in MDR)and by invitation only.

Yes, you are right--it's for Elite members or higher.  Although on this sailing (14 night Caribbean) a large percentage of passengers were Elite.

My perfect day at sea?  A nice leisurely breakfast in Luminae or Blu, followed by a couple hours in the casino (I prefer it quiet in the morning), then several relaxing hours with DH lounging on our balcony reading a good book, followed by an early cocktail hour, a nice show, and a wonderful dinner.   Ahhhhh.  As I look outside my window at the snow coming down I so wish I was at sea right now!

Up early for a walk on the track as the sun rises. A quick workout at the gym. Back to the cabin to shower and dress before our room service breakfast arrives.

Then a relaxing day reading in a shaded area on the pool deck. Followed by a light lunch and a short nap in the cabin.

Check out any onboard activities and a couple of cocktails. Back to the cabin to clean up and get ready for dinner.

Stop by the Martini Bar for a drink and conversation with fellow Martini Lovers and then head to dinner. Followed by the show in the theater whether or not we enjoy it or have seen it before.

Make our way back from the show stopping at Cafe al Bacio for either coffee or a nightcap and bring it back to our balcony where we review the day or discuss plans for tomorrow.

Crawl into bed and thank God for his/her blessings that we are able to have such a glorious life.

Haven’t done Edge yet so I will focus on Equinox....

Tonight we will be dining in Murano’s and being a sea day we will probably have lunch on the Retreat Deck so for breakfast we will head for Tuscan (Elite breakfast). We will start with a Bellini and order coffee and mixed platters. Not too heavy and being a cold breakfast we will enjoy leisurely looking out over the wake of the ship.

After breakfast we will pop into the Retreat lounge if there is any need to see the concierge. Sea days are when they organise behind the scenes tours (theatre, bridge, kitchens) so if we have requested something we will pop in to query.

A sit on our balcony, get into swimwear and head for the Solarium for a dip then drip up to the Retreat Deck for a sit in the sun followed by a relax in the shade...Light lunch up there with a few nice cool drinks. Whilst the area lacks a water feature, can be a but blustery and could do with a bit more shade the service is faultless!

Afternoon spent reading a never ending book as I always seem to nod off...Wake up at 4.15 as the butler delivers us afternoon tea. He takes a lot of convincing that we just want two small sandwiches each and one small pastry...We have a kettle and tea tray set up in our room so enjoy our tea brewed just as we like it (can you tell we are English?)...

Leisurely bathe and dress and then head to the Retreat Lounge for pre dinner drinks. Usually some nice conversation with fellow cruisers, often some live music playing...The wait staff will have remembered exactly how I like my drink mixed and if I have requested a drink they do not normally stock they will have rounded it up for me. The Concierge will make his/her rounds, great time to chat to them if you have any further requests for the rest of your cruise...

On to Murano’s. Our favourite table will be waiting, we will take our time ordering and the service will be at a leisurely pace...After dining if the weather is good we will often head to the Sunset bar to enjoy the sounds, smell and feel of the sea, with hair distinctly wind blown we will head back to the Retreat or to our balcony for a final cognac...

Oh happy days!

We always start our day with breakfast in Luminae, we also will do lunch there and most dinners. I love the sun so I would be at retreat pool for a good portion of the day. Will normally check with concierge to look at what the menu is for dinner at Luminae and then decide if we want dinner there or have concierge book a specialty restaurant for us. Would also visit the casino once or twice ( I prebuy chips with onboard credit before the cruise), wife loves to read on the balcony so we will spend sometime there also. Definitely will see what entertainment is scheduled for that night and see a show. Nightcap at the martini bar .

David, I recognized your daughter immediately, before noticing that you were the one who posted.

I guess I've read a review or two of yours.

Your signature is a shocker, Mama.  More days cancelled than sailed!  How tragic.

Thanks. We only started cruising a few years ago. Then we retired, and planned to travel nearly full-time.

7am we have breakfast in our suite. Then to Luminae at 9am for breakfast. 10am we go to the Retreat for mimosa. Then to the casino. Then back to the cabin to relax and change for lunch in Luminae at 12 noon. 5pm we got to the Captains club event and have drinks from the bar. About 6:30 we are off to Luminae for dinner. Casino after dinner. Might go see the show if we had not seen it before. Stop by The Retreat for a drink, then off to the cabin by 9pm or 10.

Perfect sea day for me would be breakfast on my balcony then off to the pool area for a quick swim before it gets too busy. Laying on my lounger with a good book and some music. Lunch at the aqua spa with my David's tea that I bring from home.  Back to lounge chair, more swim time till 2 pm. Quick change to attend wine tour if scheduled till 3 pm or any other event, browse shops for a few minutes after.  If there's time a change of swimwear and back to pool area then back on my balcony with some treats from Cafe al bacio and more reading. Shower and change and go to captains club events for drinks and meet new friends. If time permits I'll go to the casino prior to dinner or martini bar. Dinner at MDR with dance parties afterwards to burn off all the calories consumed in the day.  By the time midnight rolls around I'm exhausted. By the way I sail solo most of the time and love it.  Sometimes get to a show with my tablemates.

It's called world wine tour held on the first sea day on S class ships its in Cellar Masters. 6 reds and 6 whites plus snacks. Wines are from various countries/regions around the world. A bargain for $23 as some are pricey wines.  I remember once they ran out of a great Argentinian red so sommelier found one in the specialty restaurant and 4 of got to enjoy the bottle.  🍷

Thanks Peanut Head, a very enjoyable idea in this time of staying home and wishing we were on a cruise.  My sister and I were suppose to be on the Reflection right now.

Right now, a perfect day on the sea would be "being on the sea".  😎

I agree completely.
