NantahalaCruiser Posted February 26, 2021 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2021 The effective benefits of their card are 2% on RCIG purchases but only 1% on purchases from all other entities. There are many better choices available - for example: cards that give 1.5% to 2% on all purchases.
39august Posted February 26, 2021 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2021 A plus is that there is no membership fee..

ECCruise Posted February 26, 2021 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2021 There are cards that give you easily redeemable miles on dozens of airlines (1 point = 1 mile) as well as many hotel groups. 3x points on all travel. 3x On all restaurant spend. Currently, 3c on all grocery spend. Annual fee is high ($550) but you are rebated $300 as soon as you spend that much on travel. Lots of other benefits like Priority Club membership (we've used in over 30 airport clubs in the last--well, before 2020--18 months).

Even though I had a brokerage account held in Canada; TD Bank would not issue me a card.
DaCruiseBug Posted February 26, 2021 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2021 The cruise line credit cards are absolutely awful. There's a ton of other credit cards out there that pay out 2x-3x more in benefits.
Jeremiah1212 Posted February 26, 2021 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2021 (edited) No way. Even if you don't want to get into the points game, get a hotel card that gives you a free reward night annually and bonus points. We mostly use our IHG cards to cover pre-cruise hotel stays and haven't paid for a room in 6+ years. https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/credit-cards/hotel-credit-cards-with-free-anniversary-nights IHG, Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott are all valuable. We have a pre-cruise stay next year booked that would have cost $1,588 for two nights. I paid $60. That's way better than a little OBC. miched Posted February 27, 2021 #9 Share Posted February 27, 2021 I want a card that gives cash back with no restrictions. I can then use the money the way I want. From experience of belonging to loyalty type programs the programs change and the points become useless. I was in the NWA program. You could upgrade to 1st class for 10000 miles. Then it became 15000 and 1st class declined in luxury Casino clubs. Same thing. Put a a CC toward it and status tiers changed because of too many advancing Look at the Captain Club. Some cruises have way over 50% of the passengers Elite or above. Priority means nothing Give me the money Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
Rare cruisestitch Posted February 28, 2021 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2021 I have a BOA visa card that I only use for purchases on Royal Caribbean. I don’t get OBC from it, I use it to reduce the price of the cruise. I have been happy with it. I have other cards I use for hotels, groceries, etc.
WestLakeGirl Posted March 2, 2021 #11 Share Posted March 2, 2021 Applied for this and I see that you can use it to reduce the price of the cruise, which seems like a good use of points
