Disney magic UK staycations - what's a good age?

Seeing that Disney magic will be doing 2/3/7 night staycations from the UK this summer we were thinking of giving our first Disney Cruise a try. My nephews who would come on the cruise are 11 and 8, are they a good age for a Disney cruise or a bit too old? The other option is Royal Carribbean Anthem, we've done RCC before without kids and there seems to be plenty for the kids to do but we can't decided what would be better for our nephews. Any thoughts? thanks!

I haven't been on a Disney cruise in a few years, but before they bought Marvel I thought they were very oriented to girls with most of the characters on board being princesses.

What is good is that they have a full cinema on board which will show Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm movies all the time, so if they like going to the cinema they will like this. They also have a very good kids club and show Disney movies and shows for free on the in cabin tv. Soft drinks are also free on Disney.

Anthem has more sporting type activities on the games deck such as basketball and roller skating as well as dodgems, although the opportunities will be limited on a short cruise.

The main dining room food is better on Disney for the adults.

Both have a very good broadway type show.

Disney will probably be at least 50% more expensive in a balcony cabin for the same number of nights. Their cabins are a bit larger, however.

We did Anthem with similar age children....so so good.   Depends on how much they are into Disney/Marvel.

Anthem a perfect ship- the activities for that age is just perfect.

But sure they enjoy wherever they go.
