Ruby Cruise Cancelled due to Dry Dock

My October 10 Pacific Coastal cruise was cancelled due to dry dock to enhance medallion system.  Truthfully, I was relieved as I now have a work meeting at the same time.  I had booked it as a casino cruise (rebooked from a cancelled cruise) and hope to book again.  Does anyone have any insight into how many cruises were cancelled as it might give us some insight into the true re-start of cruising?  Yes, this Pollyanna is still hoping for restart this year.....LOL.

No clue here, and I'm reading things that might have an impact on my Nov. Med cruise + TA.  Princess hasn't said anything . . . yet!   Athens port calendar has Enchanted doing 7 days cruises from there.

Thinking I should just concentrate on my 2022 Cali coastal cruises, forget going overseas this Fall.

Probably so.  I got an email about this cancellation.  Can’t find any public listing of affected cruises.  I think it is ‘interesting’ that this round of cancellations was done so quietly.....

Here you are. The drydock period will last for 17 days, starting from Sep 30, in the shipyard in Portland.

Oct 5 and Oct 10 sailings are cancelled.

But Princess will also add two new cruises for Sep 18 and Sep 25. Seems they are confident that US departures will be allowed by CDC in September.

Good news in SF!! Opera is restarting. Yes it's by car at Marin Civic Center but it's restarting.  Now if the Philharmonic does I wonder if they'll honor my tickets for the performance that was canceled due to quarantine

I think I read the governor of CA announced all would be back to normal by the 15th of July or somewhere near that date. Of course the author of the same article wondered just how the governor knows things will be good by then. Anyway, that may have some influence on the port's status.

I believe that it was related to the announcement that California would be opening up and dropping state ordered restrictions on June 15.

No one knows yet, but every US port is being affected.

Yes, that's the announcement I remember! Hey, in geologic time June 15 and July 15 are the same. Isn't that the same clock the CDC is using? 😁

Hey @Cruise Wonderland! Do you know of any other dry docks in the fleet this year? Princess is very comparably low-key with their news, so it'd be nice to anticipate anything. Thanks!

Sorry I do not have further information. If there are drydock works to be done in the next 1-2 months in summer (before the ship will be back in service), I don't think Princess will announce it in advance, since this won't involve any cancellation of cruises (and thus won't affect any booked passengers).

Marin Civic Center is not San Francisco!

Hey it used to take me an hour to go from SF home downtown. Now it takes an hour to go from my suburb home to SF downtown!! Of course in SF I'd take the M. I suggest visitors just stay in Marina or near Embarcadero and walk.

Could be as little as 1/2 hour to Herbst Theater then search for parking / could be as much as an hour to just get from 280 (Outer Mission) to Embarcadero

The dry dock is for medallion updates, upgrades to air system and social distancing changes in restaurants and theaters per my PVP

I thought that Princess had announced that all ships are ready to go with medallions ... as part of their

touchless return to safe cruising?

They all have medallions but at least some need to have new actions added. Not sure exactly what they are

Replying to myself...

This page:

https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ocean-medallion/

...says that Ruby is one of the MedallionClass ships.

It also lists the medallion and non-medallion class ships.

More than half are 'coming soon'...
