Thoughts on the Jewel?

We went on Jewel in the Summer of 2019 and booked to go on her again end of July from Cyprus. Love the position of the Diamond Lounge up next to the Viking Crown Lounge.

What's the difference between the Diamond Lounge & Viking Crown Lounge? I presume the Diamond is only open for those with Diamond status - but what's the deal with the Viking? Do you need to show your horned helmet for entry?

Separate venues next to each other with separate entrances.   Sometimes VCL  is used as overflow for DL.

But is the VCL open to any passenger, while DL is only for those with such status?

Yes except when used as overflow from DL.  on our Radiance circumnavigation of Australia last year the Safari lounge was used for DL because of the very large number D+ D members.

Entertainment shows. What will we see on board?

Not to ignore. But there will be standard cruise ship entertainment. There are no big shows or reservations on Radiance class ships. More along the lines of a singer, a tribute band, a magician or juggler, a comedian, a headliner. Piano player in the Schooner bar, and bands on the pool deck, centrum and Safari Club at various times. And there is a small cinema to watch second run movies. Which will probably be new to us, since we never go to the movies. :classic_biggrin:

They do the production shows also.

Thanks. :classic_biggrin: Forgot about those. We are not really show people. And even though there is a cinema, we usually watch them on the pool deck. And then we have to re-watch them at home, because the sound is hard to hear. :classic_biggrin:

I just want to go away. :classic_sad: We have 4 other cruises booked, starting in Dec. 2021. Jewel isn't until April 2023. But that means we have all the rest of this year to wait, too. :classic_huh:

They still have the small cinema? I thought they did away with those.

Just had an invoice from RCI. Our flights from Manchester are now showing. We are booked on a direct TUI flight to Lanarca. Flight times are good. Departing at 7.45 from Manchester and arriving Lanarca14:15. Return 15.40 Arrive 18:55.

Thanks for posting. Hope those flights are the same timing in September

Great we love the Broadways show, not into the other stuff.

Jewel does not have a Broadway show like you see on the Oasis class ships (CATS, Grease, etc).  They have a production show feature the Royal Caribbean singers and dancers.  It isn't too bad but we prefer the entertainment on the larger ships.

OK thanks for the info.  What time are they normally held?  Our cruise will be 8 nights so how often are they done?

There is some kind of entertainment in the main theater every night.  Typically, it will be at 7pm and then repeated at 9pm, with the exception of the game shows like Love and Marriage which is only one show and the Welcome Aboard show is usually only one show.  You can go to whichever show fits your schedule.

What is Quest? I don't see any mention of it on the RCC site.

It is an adult game.  Usually at night.  It's changed over the years but basically you put together a team and then when they announce what they are seeking a team member with your team number runs up with the item.  You earn points,  Some easy stuff, a lipstick, a bra, some get more complicated.  Eventually dressing up a male team member with a bra, shoes, etc.  Adult only.

So kinda like the ending credits for Lets Make a Deal when folks need to fish a matchbox and a supermarket receipt out of their purse to win $50?

Yes but wilder.  Remember people are running up to be first, more points.

Quest is a blast, at least when in Studio B. I've only been on Oasis & Voyager classes so far.

In that setting, your "team" is essentially your audience section. It's perfect for even just watching & cheering others on. You can participate as much or as little as you want.

Usually happens on the second to the last evening of the cruise. Check your Cruise Compass for the start time and evening.
