Rare teacherman Posted April 30, 2021 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2021 In making a reservation for a balcony cabin on the Jade, it ask what our bed choice is: a sofa or lower convertible. What does this mean? We just want the 2 beds together to form a queen size. This is our first NCL cruise.
Rare KeithJenner Posted April 30, 2021 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2021 That reference will be to the bed for a third passenger. The first two people will have two beds, pushed together by default.

don't-use-real-name Posted May 1, 2021 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2021 To speed the turn-around of the ship the last position of the bed arrangement may be left in place. So you have come aboard and the beds are separated - See your cabin attendant or leave a message with Guest Services to have the beds joined - This may not be done immediately but certainly by early evening turn-down-service. This takes less than 10 minutes to do. You might want to check out the deck floor plan of your cabin - location of the queen bed - be it - next to the balcony or more inner located near the bathroom and entry door. Look at the cabin floor plans and any guest photos/videos to get an idea of the layout that appeals best to you. All the floor plans are for the most part a cookie cutter same ole same ole square footage design - alternating mirror images. Not for your concern as a couple - that third bed is made out of the couch and the fourth a fold out of the wall pullman on some but not all ships. Read on more here at CC for location-location-location for the benefits of quietness - easy access to elevators stairways - dining - theatre - avoid cabins under or over entertainment areas galleys restaurants etc. Questions the members here have the answers ! Rare teacherman Posted May 1, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted May 1, 2021 We have been on many cruises, just not on NCL. I chose a stateroom with other cabins both above and below. Since the rooms are "mirrored" of each other, where do I find information on whether the bed is near to the balcony or away from it?
Rare teacherman Posted May 1, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted May 1, 2021 Sorry for the above question. I guess i am "lazy" this morning. I have just managed to find photos and a video tour of our stateroom. It just looks a little small compared to other rooms we have had on different cruise lines, but we selected this cruise for the itinerary of South Africa. It is still 9 months away, so I hope we will be able to do it. Thank you for all of your responses.

This isn't relevant for the Jade (except for a very small number of rooms which may have a different setup). The alternating rooms with the bed near the balcony or near the door started with the Epic. A standard room on the Jade will have the sofa between the bed and the balcony.
