Comp cards in casino?

Read somewhere here that RCCL was doing comp cards for prizes and the such in the casino. Is this what is occuring and if so...anyone know if the Brilliance is doing it?

I can't confirm this or deny it. But, if they do have some sort of a reward type card - I wouldn't expect them to be too great. Remember, when you are on a cruise - they have no competition. So why would they need to offer rewards when they are "the only game in town"?

Since Carnivals lines have the "Ocean Players Club" for comps, I would expect everyone would have to do something to compete.

It takes 125 "points" to get a drink at the bar and they're achieved by placing your card in the slot machines. No points for the tables.

last cruise I was on I got a $825 credit towards a future cruise. They give you 10% credit on however much you win or lose. You do have to bet fairly heavy ($50 per hand plus on blackjack). Using the credit in a few weeks.

It's hardly worth betting these great sums ($50 per hand for hours on end!) just to get a free drink! Bet only what you can afford, and you'll have a much better time.

On our cruise to Alaska on the Serenade, if you consistently bet $25 per hand, the pit boss would ask if he could get you something to drink. One time, he "bought" drinks for the whole blackjack table.

 

But I do agree, if you are not used to betting that, don't do it just for the free drink. You have to bet this consistently, not just one or two hands.

RCI has a new "players club" program, I'll see if I can locate any details.

We were on the Jewel in January and enjoyed the new "Blue Chips" Program. Similar to loyalty programs for slot players in Vegas. Your Seapass serves as your "blue chip" card - just put it into the slot on the machine and leave it there while you play.

The more you play (regardless of whether you win or lose), the more points you gain. Over the course of our 8 night cruise, I earned (on 25cent video poker) enough points to buy for 2 - $20.00 entries into a slot tournament, "bought" a Freedom of the Seas Tee shirt with points and a funky pen that also works as a message machine and numerous drinks. The points expire around 11:00 on the last night of your cruise.

We really liked the program (we were going to gamble anyway) and hope RCCL moves it to other ships soon.

I just got off the Brilliance of the Sea on Monday. They DO NOT HAVE any type of comps in the casino. When I raised the question I was told they did not have to because they had no compation. Never even offered water.

when we were on the Carnival line, we recieved wine with dinner several times and then a discounted cruise which we were not able to go on.

SO the answer is No COMPS

About that Blue Chips program-- does it only work for slots? Or can you give your sea pass card to the pit boss when playing table games? Personally, I never play slots and it would seem rather unfair to only get points to play slots.

The Player's Club Treats Guests Like A Million Bucks

High rollers can take their casino gaming on the high seas with the new Player’s Club, a reward program now offered in the Casino Royale. Guests who play an average of at least $1 on slots, $25 on Roulette or the Poker games, or $50 on Black Jack or Dice for at least two hours per day over the course of a cruise can take advantage of the benefits.

 

Guests identified as “High Rollers” by the Casino are invited to join the Player’s Club during their cruise vacation and are issued a temporary ID card by the Casino. They will then be able to enjoy many benefits while participating in this program, such as discounts on their next voyage, VIP treatment for their current and next cruise, free drinks while playing in the Casino and a quality ‘Hi-roller’ polo shirt every time they sail. Guests can even arrange a personal check cashing facility for their next voyage!

 

After their first cruise as a Player’s Club member, guests may use their benefits including their discount on their next cruise vacation on any ship in the Royal Caribbean International & Celebrity Cruises fleets. With perks like these, why would you want to play anywhere else

 

In addition to the items mentioned in the article:

 

Guests may take up to $2,000/day in cash out on their SeaPass card. This is not seen as a cash advance, but as an entertainment charge.

If needed they can also take additional cash out on their credit cards, but usually charges apply as they would elsewhere.

If guests think they will need larger sums available onboard we have a credit form that they can complete. If they are approved, this allows the guests to write a personal check at the end of the voyage to cover their casino debts. We do not permit the guests to pay off debts in 30 days as to many other casinos.

All of our guests are invited to become members based on their play, not everyone qualifies. We track both table and slot players.

Even if a guest is a noted player in a land based casino, we do not usually offer them comps up front, but watch his play for the first cruise, and then offer him discounts or cash rebates on the next cruise. Most US players we offer discounts on the cruise, most international guests we offer the cash onboard as we can't pay USD after a booking has already been established in another currency.

We also entertain large groups of guests from well know Casinos in the US such as Harrah's, and groups brought to us by our Casino Marketing Reps.
