Guest BigRoger Posted June 1, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2021 It will need to be for at least some sailing or else RC will breach their own absolute guarantee that guests have to be informed at least 30 days before sail date…. General announcement - not sure but as I’ve said before RC sees themselves as a line moving to sailing, not cancelling…. The 30 days before commitment is what they keep saying so am still guessing it’s going to be ship by ship and small (or full season) date ranges from now on…. soremekun Posted June 1, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2021 They probably use a dart board. The bull's eye is "Eh, we'll announce it today." They're not very good at darts, it seems.

Wow, you would think they would have scheduled something, anything , even if it was a dumb statement. People really need to know NOW what is possibly going on with the cruises thay have booked in the next 4 to 8 weeks. By this time there shouldn't be a further delay on this. At this point it is unconscionable what they are doing to their customers.
cruisegirl1 Posted June 1, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 1, 2021 Honestly, I already assume our July 11, 7 night Allure cruise from PC is cancelled. I’ve already made some medical appointments for that week. The official cancellation announcement will not be a surprise to me. m
molly361 Posted June 1, 2021 Author #8 Share Posted June 1, 2021 I real bad for those not in driving distance that have plane and hotel reservations. It's really not fair to them. We have one booked for July 19th but only have an hour drive not other expenses and cancellations to deal with.

At least we can drive to the port if it sails. I feel for anyone who has to fly in. I doubt the airlines or hotels will bend over to refund their $$$ if the cruise cancels. We are an 8 hour drive but I never bothered to make pre cruise hotel reservations. All of our flight reservations for various cruise/events that were booked prior to the spring, were refundable for airline credit. I’ve already used some of it to visit family Also have a cruise from Tampa in August that I also expect to be cancelled. We booked a local mountain vacation for that same time. (Just waiting for Rccl to cancel because I don’t want cruise credit) . I don’t expect RCCL to sail as quickly from Tampa (smaller ships) as other ports. m

Kokomo91165 Posted June 1, 2021 #12 Share Posted June 1, 2021 2 days until the 30 day mark for my Symphony cruise 7/3/2021. I am steaming mad already they haven’t made an announcement. Ship is currently in drydock with bare minimum crew. Crew still need to be loaded on board, vaccinated, and the ship to sailed back to Miami. Then, what about test cruises? At this point, it is beyond laughable that they think their passengers are so stupid. This is egregious customer service and negligence to the Royal promise that we will have a outstanding vacation from start to finish. kudos to the other lines who have been forthcoming with information. Perhaps I’ll take my business to them.

ToroAzul Posted June 1, 2021 #14 Share Posted June 1, 2021 I too am booked Allure on 11 July. Cruise planner has been full price for weeks, no upgrade e-mail, no check-in available. I'd love to go but am doubtful. I have all these casino offers but few dates to book through next March

coldflame Posted June 1, 2021 #17 Share Posted June 1, 2021 Genuine question is the interest in hearing cancellations for July so that y'all can get a refund?

I think it’s more about knowing if their multi-thousand dollar vacation is going to happen. Many people also have airline and hotel reservations on the line.

Generally yes. But, my crusie was a 2019 casino prime cruise originally scheduled for March 2020 ( just 2 days after the shut down. ) They need to cancel so I can re-schedule. For our August cruise- Yes so I can get my money back. Not interested in cruise credit if I can help it. M

UNCFanatik Posted June 1, 2021 #21 Share Posted June 1, 2021 1 minute ago, coldflame said: Genuine question is the interest in hearing cancellations for July so that y'all can get a refund? For me with a scheduled July 17th cruise on Symphony is so I can move forward with alternate plans if my cruise is cancelled. The longer Royal waits to announce, the less options I have for other vacations because of the huge demand for travel this summer and the higher than normal prices. Not everyone can afford to put multiple deposits on different vacation options or suffer penalties for cancelling alternate plans if made. And then there are other peoples schedules I am cruising with. There are summer camps, work schedules, pets to be taken care of, etc, etc, etc. This is a shorter summer for my step daughter than usual because of covid. Schools not out for her until June 11 and it starts back on August 18. That gives us about 9 1/2 weeks of summer in order to plan vacation. Then there is the 2 weeks her Father has with her in the summer. Its almost insulting to ask people if we are waiting to hear back on the status of a fully paid cruise if I just want a refund. I want to cruise on the week I planned July 17-24 if possible because that is what I planned everything around when I booked this cruise in Nov 2020. I am under the impression that a provider of goods and services to consumers has a responsibility to properly communicate with its customers in good faith. Royal isnt doing that right now. They are taking its loyal customers for granted and acting like we all are stupid and cant do basic math or keep up with current events enough to understand that every day closer to July, it looks less and less feasible for certain ships to sail. Royal knows its plans for July. I get they are bleeding cash and dont want to keep refunding money BUT this is VERY short sighted because this delay in communication and down right silence is leaving a bitter taste in many peoples mouths. Remember, not everyone that cruises is as informed as those on boards like this. They really believe their July sailings are all gonna happen because a customer service rep they called at Royal says so. Do I just want a refund? Are you serious? No, I want to be treated with respect by a company who is holding 1000s of dollars of my money and is refusing to tell me if they can deliver what I paid for. We should all demand the same.
cruisegirl1 Posted June 1, 2021 #22 Share Posted June 1, 2021 (edited) Surprised that someone on our Allure July 11 roll call just booked the cruise in April (2021). What an optimist! Perhaps they are doing that 25% "profit" on money held for a few months investment strategy. M Edited June 1, 2021 by cruisegirl1
mavo68 Posted June 1, 2021 #23 Share Posted June 1, 2021 I booked my Aug 15 Allure in April also But I did truly believe it would restart over the summer until all this happened with the gov and the cdc. Now I am not so sure. Just waiting to see when I can book my plan b.

I understand the dramatic difference in price for refundable vs nonrefundable plane tickets but at least the airlines will give you a credit. laddcalcagno Posted June 1, 2021 #25 Share Posted June 1, 2021 Tomorrow is officially 30 days before my cruise, 7/2 Oasis. According to their own policy they have to give us a yay or nay. I personally think they're attempting to get it out with a shorter cruise because it looks like on our cruise planner the Florida stop and at sea days are mostly gone. Everyone says Bayonne won't be till August, but the sources are iffy, not Royal themselves. And while I am convinced we haven't heard anything because they are trying to get a go ahead for something different, its more likely they are just doing this to hold on to the money until the very last second. I'm grateful I don't have to be concerned about flights or hotels since we're close to the port and I won't make other plans for this year if it doesn't work out. I'd just like an answer. I would have to do some shopping for stuff if we sail and now there's a very short window to do that. My job right now is super busy and getting my ducks in a row to travel and take time off will make the next month crazy.
