I can see the "avatar" which looks like a small blue speech balloon (yours says 1.6k), but only in landscape mode on my Kindle.  It disappears in portrait mode, so its presence or absence seems to depend on the formatting of your browser.

It's a small speech balloon located below the avatar now. I just noticed today.
