Will have to check out FB. 5 hours ago, coaster said: Think is it US $'s as the beer is listed at $3. I just contacted them via FB at the link above. Never saw a website. My first thought was Mexican too but that would be a real bargain! I dont have access to the old menu presently and don’t remember ceviche but that sounds like it could be a sharing plate. Was it a printed menu or did it have handwritten prices? Have we discovered a location for it yet? FB page posted certainly looks like original location which would suggest Krazy Lobster hadn’t moved there. Can’t really explain as other prices seem quite normal and I don’t often buy ceviche. I think it must be a sharing platter but I guess you could ask. I reached out last night, and they got back to me right away and confirmed it's the same location as before, and still no charge for chairs or reservation. They also sent along that menu that's posted above. I think I'm going to give them a try on 12/28/21 when I'm there, so I'll report back. (I won't be able to solve the ceviche question, because that's not really my thing.)

Rare crewsweeper Posted November 4, 2021 #31 Share Posted November 4, 2021 OK....Here's the scoop. Tropicante is indeed back up and open. Same Location. Being ran by Carolina, Steve's old manager, and most of the staff from old Tropicante! NO word on overpriced ceviche! 1
Oceanwench Posted November 7, 2021 #32 Share Posted November 7, 2021 Do you take taxi there, or tram? I've gone both ways. My kids and grandkids love that place and were sad to hear it had closed. I'm glad it's back up and running with same staff.
Rare crewsweeper Posted November 8, 2021 #33 Share Posted November 8, 2021 Not sure if the tram is running. Hasn't been but haven't heard if its back. They let taxis into the port area now so since you need a taxi aback, just taxi.
coaster Posted November 9, 2021 #34 Share Posted November 9, 2021 (edited) Just back from Costa Maya. No tram, but Serenade was only ship in port. $4 pp for the 2 of us to taxi and you don't have to walk outside the port gate anymore as mentioned above. Mommyof3sweetboys Posted November 12, 2021 #35 Share Posted November 12, 2021 Headed to there on Dec 29 and so thankful for the menu! Caroline has been great to work with and so responsive to all my questions. I have 3 teenage boys going who want to do some activities. Do any places offer things like kayak rental, jet skis, banana boat after reopening? All the info I've found is old so I don't want them to get their hopes up if they aren't there anymore. Rare crewsweeper Posted November 12, 2021 #36 Share Posted November 12, 2021 If Carolina can't help you or doesn't have access to kayaks or SUPs, just walk down the malecon to Dr Dive at Yaya Beach and rent them there. I've never seen banana boats in Mahahual. And I wouldn't trust jet skis inside the breakwater. Too many people. If you're in Cozumel as well, Mr. Sanchos or Paradise Beach or Playa Mia would satify your teens water sports jones.
chrpai Posted November 13, 2021 #37 Share Posted November 13, 2021 We were just at Tropicante on Wednesday. This time I even had a table massage and the girl was wonderful. We had a great time and as far as I can tell nothing has changed. The only thing that annoyed my wife was the constant stream of vendors engaging you. She did say yes to some pineapple though. They are very responsive to Facebook requests. Asked for a menu and then asked for a reservation the day before.

I'll be there on 12/28...just sent in a reservation request on Facebook. Hoping the beach is nice. It's been years since I've been to Costa Maya! chrpai Posted November 14, 2021 #39 Share Posted November 14, 2021 There was a little sargassum but not a lot.
tbmrt Posted December 5, 2021 #40 Share Posted December 5, 2021 We had gone to Tropicante when Steve was running it and had a great time. How is the beach now? See from photos online that many places have hardly and beach in front of the lounges.
tbmrt Posted December 6, 2021 #41 Share Posted December 6, 2021 I remember going to Tropicante Beach Bar years ago and seeing a fun beach bar closeby with music, etc. Has anyone been there recently? Name?
Rare crewsweeper Posted December 6, 2021 #42 Share Posted December 6, 2021 Was by Tropicante last week. appears places next door, notably El Faro, are squeezing Carolina's beach space. You have to look for the white facade and it's almost hidden by the portico over teh front. And Carolina said the high prices for ceviche are because it's huge and feeds 5-6 people and all fresh daily catch.
Rwb11 Posted December 7, 2021 #43 Share Posted December 7, 2021 For those of you who made reservations, did you send a Facebook message or send an email to the Gmail address listed on Facebook? We will be down there on Dec. 28th and we would LOVE to go to Tropicante.
sdcantrn Posted December 7, 2021 #44 Share Posted December 7, 2021 We've been to Tropicante several times (with Steve running) and also went in late July 2021 under Carolina's management. Same great location and service. Menu is reduced (I loved the Iguana Eggs), but that is understandable with the slower business. There were more locals around when we were there, but were the first ship to allow passengers out of the port. FB message option goes to WhatsApp and they have always been very resposive to any questions I had. Will be back there in a couple of weeks and plan on returning.
