Celebrity requiring covid vaccine but Florida doesn't allow it??

Celebrity says on their website they are requiring all adult passengers to be vaccinated for covid yet the state of Florida will not allow such requirements.  So how is Celebrity getting around this.  My husband and I will only consider cruising again if the vaccine requirement is in place and enforced.  Any answers???

Welcome to the party, there are lots and lots of threads already about this.  Time will tell...

Lol, CONFUSED !!!

How will X get around this and enforce it ?

I'm hoping that people wanting to cruise will cancel if they realize that if they are not FULLY vaccinated they will have to test and wear masks and have to PAY for testing, might be expensive.

I'M VACCINATED, no worries !!!

Best guess today is that because they will allow 5% unvaccinated, there will be some means of identifying those who do not choose to show proof of vaccine, possibly a wristband.

well some cruise lines have said that they will demand 100% proof of vaccination, Celebrity says 95%, which allows for some children to be on board, but also allows for a few who choose not to show their vaccine cards. Those who make that choice will find that they probably cannot attend the theater, the bingo, the casino, etc

I believe the issues are 1) They can't sail with <95% vaccinated by CDC (without doing the test cruises it doesn't look like they want to do).  2) Florida doesn't let them ask for vaccination status.

It looks like their solution is to make passengers giving vaccination status optional, and to make not-giving vaccination status so costly and onerous that every one will anyway, and then they will be able to have >95% report a positive vaccination status without running afoul of Florida's law.

With regards to Celebrity requiring a vaccine to sail and Florida not allowing you to ask..I watched the webinar from yesterday on a YouTube channel and the woman said “it’s on us” to make sure that we sail 95% vaccinated but did not say how they were going to do it even when questioned by the travel agents on the call.

My guess is they are going to make it so unappealing for unvaccinated people and those unwilling to disclose their vaccination status to sail they will just stay home.  Starting with an overpriced COVID test in the terminal and another on the return.  Your vaccination status will be tied to your room key.  Swipe your card for a drink while not wearing a mask and get tossed off.

I hope  that X will require daily testing for those that don’t produce a valid card.  Charge them a large fee that can’t be paid for with SBC and make them go at a very inconvenient time and wait a long time.  Plus putting a wrist band on them that can’t be cut off.  If they are caught not complying during the cruise put them off at the port at their expense.

Happy cruising 🚢🌊🇺🇸🌅

As I understand it, everyone must be vaccinated, or they will not be allowed to board.
We don't plan on wearing masks while on a Caribbean cruise, since we are fully vaccinated.
How do the cruisers determine who has had a vaccine or not? By their mask? Not !
No shot, no ship !   🛳️    🌞   🌴

I am repeating what I have said in other threads, but please, EVERYONE, write (snail mail or email or both) to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to urge him to allow the cruise lines to require vaccine "passports" for cruise passengers.  Be polite, be reasonable, be respectful!

That pretty well sums it up.....costly and onerous and a no-fun cruise experience

Only if one chooses NOT to prove vaccination.

As for those who cannot get the vaccination, a whole different approach/discussion.

When is your sailing due to depart from FTL or MIA?

Possibly by then something will change.

Many of the responses about non vaccinated cruisers suggest having them identified by a wrist band. As others have stated they could take it off. My suggestion is to have everyone vaccinated wear a wristband to indicate vaccination.  No wristband you must be masked and socially distance. That’s how AI resorts identify you.

From what I have read the Celebrity take on the new Florida law is that they can ask if you are vaccinated but can not require you to provide proof. From what I read Celebrity is going to ask you to voluntarily provide proof of vaccination with the understanding that if you don't you will be deemed un-vaccinated and have to wear a mask. The hard part is they cannot allow more than 5% of the passengers to be "un-vaccinated". So if more than 5% refuse to provide proof they have to start denying boarding !!!
