Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted June 18, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2021 Does anyone have a good idea of whether Pride will begin sailing Sept. 5 or Sept. 12? We're booked on Sept. 12 and if it's the restart cruise out of Baltimore I'm wondering if we'll get some of the extra giveaway goodies recent cruisers posted about on other "re-inauguration" cruises. Bases5 Posted June 18, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2021 Older smaller ship might not restart until Nov 14 out of Tampa. who knows

Cruises outta Baltimore have a lot of green and black chips on the table games, don't you think Carnival wants that casino revenue? Bases5 Posted June 18, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2021 I hope it’s starts up north. It just seems they are starting back up with there newer bigger ships first except for Alaska. I just want to get back to cruising. Any ship any time.
Grandma Gail Posted June 18, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2021 I hope our September 12th cruise will sail. Have had 6 cruises canceled. So now I'm booked until 2023. I just want to sail!!

Travel Bear Posted June 18, 2021 #7 Share Posted June 18, 2021 We are booked with 2 cabins for the Sept. 5th sailing. We extended our final payment date and are hoping it will sail. Booking still active but sailing isn't showing up as available. Tried calling but long hold time. Have back up booking for Dec. as well.
wemjam Posted June 18, 2021 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2021 We were on her for the Sept 5th sailing too - 3 rooms family trip moved over from last year. We just "jumped ship!" With Carnival posting she is shut down for sure until end of August (just like 5 weeks before our sailing), and my gut telling me that I can't see them starting up that whole terminal just to get her sailing - we moved! Seems to me the wise business decision would be to stick with a port where they have multiple ships coming and going like Miami. On Horizon the following week now. Rooms were actually cheaper and got chunk of OBC for it.
Rare IntrepidFromDC Posted June 18, 2021 Author #9 Share Posted June 18, 2021 Some Maryland county schools begin August 30, others September 8... given the drama about the 5% and kid sailing, I'm thinking Carnival might be starting up to coincide with when kids are back in school, anticipating that parents don't want kids to miss the first week of school. I have no idea how much Carnival would be looking at school schedules really, I'm just grasping for reasons to believe our September 12 cruise will sail!
sammee Posted June 18, 2021 #10 Share Posted June 18, 2021 I have Sept 19 booked. Originally I had Mardi Gras for Oct 2022 and Tampa Feb 2022 booked, feeling safe. My casino offers showed that too good to pass up for Pride. It's only 2.5 hrs away for me, so worth a shot. If it goes, fun times. If it doesn't it's all good, move that money over to Mardi Gras. jeepchick444 Posted June 20, 2021 #11 Share Posted June 20, 2021 I was trying to stay optimistic for our Sept 5th sailing until I went on cruise timetables to see if any other ships will be in port at 2 of our stops and our arrival dates aren't even listed, Stops for the following three sailings in Sept show up. So yea not looking promising!! Still crossing my fingers!!😏

After 2 or so days in Miami, she left and anchored at Half Moon Cay for a day or so, and now is anchored at Princess Cays. I'm so used to seeing her anchored with the other ships at GSC that it's weird to see her moving around again! Here's to hoping! I also wouldn't read too much into *anything* unless its straight from Carnival. I got a feeling that Pride will sail on 9/5, but that's just based on circumstantial evidence and hearsay at this point, I'm super optimistic, but until I see it in writing from Carnival, everything else is just static. I know for my 9/26 sailing, my final payment date has not changed, so i would imagine yours has not either.
cellfree Posted June 20, 2021 #13 Share Posted June 20, 2021 We are booked on the Pride when she comes to Tampa In November. Our latest cancellation was a September 4th seven night on MSC Mera out of Miami. So that makes the Pride our next cruise out of a Florida Port. Surely it will be a “go.” Have not heard when ships from any Cruise Line will start up in Tampa.

pogoism9 Posted June 20, 2021 #17 Share Posted June 20, 2021 (edited) Another potential issue for Tampa is, at some point, Carnival is going to have to seriously move away from Florida and restart other ports. The east coast has a severe deficit right now with all sailings leaving Florida. Need to get Baltimore and Charleston back. Not everyone has a travel budget that allows for airfare to Florida + the cruise EDIT: Just need to state that I have no inside info on this, just my own thoughts and opinion Edited June 20, 2021 by pogoism9
vacruisin Posted June 20, 2021 #18 Share Posted June 20, 2021 Yesterday we were able to book the Pride sailing on 9/26. Looks like that one will be a go. We live in Northern VA, about an hour drive from Baltimore but we have never cruised out of there; always out of Florida (except for when we cruised on RCI out of California back in 2004). We are excited about finally being able to just drive to the port. Time to take a break from cruising out of Florida. We’ll try Galveston and New Orleans sometime soon also. Happy cruising everyone!

Also, the sailaway is one of the nicer ones after you get out of the port of baltimore, cruising under the Bay Bridge, etc. We take uber to the port, from memory uber is ~ $43 each way, not much more than parking and the uber dropoff is a one minute walk to the check-in. Recently retired and living in Florida now we have the opportunity to cruise more frequently and mostly out of Florida Ports, not choosey about Ports of Call, just thoroughly enjoy being on a ship. Great to hear! We usually are at the Alchemy bar during sail away but I convinced wifey that we need to be on the Lido this time since we have never cruised out of Baltimore. We’ll party on the lido for a bit before making our way down to the Alchemy bar to meet our Alchemist for the week! We will be getting our money’s worth for our Cheers package, as we always do!!

Sailing out of Baltimore is great! First you sail past Fort McHenry, then you go under the Key Bridge - watch out! It looks like you'll hit it but you won't 😉 A short time later, you sail under the Bay Bridge. Fall/winter sailings out of Baltimore can get a little "rough" meaning you'll feel the ship moving more than you would sailing from Florida. If you're sensitive to it, take your dramamine. 🙂
